Mary Erickson
maryericksonart.com

Mary Erickson is an American painter celebrated for her evocative landscapes, seascapes, and wildlife paintings, and for her enduring commitment to community, conservation, and service through the arts. Raised along the shores of Long Island Sound, Erickson began sketching outdoors at an early age and sold her first painting at just 13—an early indication of a lifelong devotion to observing and honoring the natural world.

A central theme in Erickson’s career is building community through art. She is co-founder of the American Tonalist Society, and organization created to recognize, promote, and showcase the contemporary tonalist movement while continuing the rich legacy of American Tonalists of the 1800s. She is also the founder of The Nanatuck Group, a seasonal gathering of professional artists and modern-day art colony based in Port Clyde on Maine’s St. George Peninsula, where artists paint together along the coast in the spirit of shared learning and tradition.
