Juror

Nancy Whitcher is a Connecticut based classically trained artist who works in various media, including printmaking, sculpture, and photography. Her artwork shows in local, regional and national juried exhibits and is in permanent and private collections. She is a member of a number of Connecticut art associations and President Emeritus of the Connecticut Women Artists Association.

For this show, she will be looking for a broad selection of styles, sizes and media.

All entries must be submitted online. Successful completion of your online entry will be acknowledged with an automated notification of your entry data from the website.

Entry Fee

  • GAL Members: $20 for one entry, $10 for a second entry
  • Non-members: $30 for one entry, $10 for a second entry
Note: acceptance into the show is not guaranteed. Fees must be paid online when you register on ShowSubmit.

Entry Requirements

  • Open to all Connecticut artists, 18 years and older.
  • Size requirements: no size limit.
  • All media are eligible, including oils, watercolor, pastels, acrylic, sculpture, collage, textile, mixed media, printmaking, and photography.
  • Reproductions (giclée prints) and crafts will not be accepted. Note: the juror has the final say on what is acceptable.
  • Artwork created or enhanced by Artificial Intelligence will not be accepted.
  • “Not for Sale” work is acceptable.
  • All work must be suitably wired and ready for hanging. No sawtooth hangers or clips.
  • Guilford Art League members who are not current on their dues must pay the non-member fee for entry.
Notifications will be emailed and posted in your ShowSubmit account by end of day, Wednesday, September 2, 2026.

Sales of Artwork

20% of the proceeds from the sale of any work will be paid to the GAL. All artwork will be handled carefully by exhibition staff. However, the GAL and the Guilford Art Center are not liable for damage, loss or theft of submitted work. The sale of work is between the buyer and the artist. The buyer will be given contact information for the artist. Work must remain in the gallery until the end of the show, Sept. 26.

Awards

The juror, Nancy Whitcher, will make the awards selection from the paintings and sculpture displayed in the exhibition. Winners will be notified and the prizes will be handed out at the opening reception.

Receiving of Accepted Works

The Gallery at the Guilford Art Center, 411 Church St., Guilford, CT, will be open on Sept. 6 from 10-noon for receiving of artwork. It must be delivered in person. We are not equipped to accept shipped works.

Sunday, Sept. 13, 1-3pm in the Gallery at the Guilford Art Center.

Pick up of Artwork

Sunday, Sept. 27, 12-2pm

Additional Notification Information

Notifications will be emailed and posted in your ShowSubmit account by the end of the day on September 2, 2026.

If you do not receive your email, login and view the notification in your account. We cannot respond to inquiries regarding the status of notifications.

Image and Filename Specifications

  • File Format: Submit original, high-quality JPEG image files. Other formats (e.g., PNG, TIFF) are not accepted.
  • Crop Your Image: Ensure only the artwork itself is visible in the image. Do not show any visible matting, frames, or background distractions.
  • Orientation: Make sure your image is oriented correctly (right side up) so that the artwork appears in its intended viewing direction.
  • Image Size: You do not need to resize your image files before uploading. The system will automatically resize them. Smaller images cannot be enlarged to meet the requirements, so ensure your images are high resolution before uploading.
  • File Names: You do not need to rename your files before uploading them. The system will handle any file naming requirements.
  • File Size: There is a 30MB maximum file size limit. Larger image files will take longer to upload and process.

Additional Entry Information

  • You will pay for your entry by credit or debit card using our secure checkout system.
  • After your entry is submitted and paid for, you may log back in to review your entry, edit artist and image information, and add or substitute images up until the entry deadline (August 24, 2026.)
  • Entry fees are not refundable and must be submitted and paid by the entry deadline.
  • Entries cannot be accepted or changed after the deadline. Incomplete entries will be disqualified.
