About the Exhibition

The Degas Pastel Society is thrilled to announce that the DPS 21st International Exhibition will begin accepting entries on April 1st, 2026. An artist need not be a member of DPS to submit. Accepted artists will have their paintings displayed at the historic Louisiana State Archives in Baton Rouge, La.

Juror and Judge of Awards

Aline Ordman is a Master Pastelist with the Pastel Society of America, a Signature Member of the American Impressionist Society, a signature member of the Oil Painters of America and an Eminent Pastelist with the International Association of Pastel Societies (IAPS). She has been featured in the Pastel Journal Magazine and has been honored with awards at the 33rd, 34th, and 38th Annual Juried Shows of the Pastel Society of America. Aline has won awards several times in the Top 100 Pastels issues of the Pastel Journal. Her work has been accepted in national juried shows of the American Impressionist Society, The Pastel Society of America and the Oil Painters of America.

Entry Fee

  • $35 for up to 3 works.
  • Up to 3 works may be submitted by an individual artist.
  • Up to 2 paintings per artist may be accepted, though there is no guarantee of acceptance.
Entry fees are not refundable.

Eligible Work

Please read carefully to make sure your work meets the following entry requirements.
  • Open to all artists.
  • Works must be in dry pastel. No oil pastels. Mixed media must be predominantly dry pastel (80%).
  • Size limitations: Acceptable minimum size is 9 x 12 (unframed). Framed artwork must not exceed 40” on the longest side.
  • Work must be original, not copied from other artists or published materials and from your own reference. Any reference provided by an instructor is not eligible, including an instructor-provided photo, still life setup, or model setup.
  • Work done under supervision, or in an instructed class, workshop, online instruction, published step by step instruction, DVD, or any other form of instruction is not eligible.
  • Work painted over a mechanical print, copies, or reproductions is ineligible.
  • Work done in a classroom or workshop scenario is ineligible.
  • Artwork must be originally drawn and not created on top of any type of photographic image.
  • Paintings of nudes will be considered for acceptance.
  • Work may not have been accepted in any previous Degas Pastel Society Exhibition.
  • Work must have been completed within the last three years (2023 or later).
  • Accepted paintings must be identical to the image submitted for entry.
By entering the exhibition, you agree that you have read and will abide by all rules outlined in this prospectus. Failure to meet any of the requirements for eligibility as stated above or failing to ship or deliver an accepted work will result in the artist receiving a two-year ban on entering future DPS shows.

DPS reserves the right to exclude from exhibition any artwork deemed offensive, or any artwork that violates the laws of the United States, or of state or local governments.

Sales

Work may be for sale but NFS is also acceptable. DPS will handle sales and will require a 30% commission.

Notification

All Artists will receive notification of acceptance/rejection by email when the jurying is complete. Awards will be announced at the opening reception on July 10th, 2026.

Payment of Awards

Award recipients living in the United States will be paid by check. International artists will be paid via PayPal. International artists must have a Paypal account of their own. No payments will be made to a third party PayPal account. All payments are in USD.

Notifications will be emailed and posted in your ShowSubmit account by the end of the day on May 27, 2026.

If you do not receive your email, login and view the notification in your account. We cannot respond to inquiries regarding the status of notifications.

Image and Filename Specifications

  • File Format: Submit original, high-quality JPEG image files. Other formats (e.g., PNG, TIFF) are not accepted.
  • Crop Your Image: Ensure only the artwork itself is visible in the image. Do not show any visible matting, frames, or background distractions.
  • Orientation: Make sure your image is oriented correctly (right side up) so that the artwork appears in its intended viewing direction.
  • Image Size: You do not need to resize your image files before uploading. The system will automatically resize them. Smaller images cannot be enlarged to meet the requirements, so ensure your images are high resolution before uploading.
  • File Names: You do not need to rename your files before uploading them. The system will handle any file naming requirements.
  • File Size: There is a 30mb maximum file size limit. Larger image files will take longer to upload and process.

Additional Entry Information

  • You will pay for your entry by credit or debit card using our secure checkout system.
  • After your entry is submitted and paid for, you may log back in to review your entry, edit artist and image information, and add or substitute images up until the entry deadline (May 18, 2026.)
  • Entry fees are not refundable and must be submitted and paid by the entry deadline.
  • Entries cannot be accepted or changed after the deadline. Incomplete entries will be disqualified.
