Exhibition Overview

PSWC’s Members Only Online Show (MOOS) provides an exceptional opportunity for our members to show their best work and gain recognition within the Society without the expense of framing and shipping. Accepted and awarded works will be showcased on our website, pswc.ws, featured in the acclaimed PSWC Magazine (available digitally and in print) and displayed on the ShowSubmit.com online gallery. The exhibition will remain viewable in the ShowSubmit gallery beyond the two-month duration of the show, however, after the show’s official closing date your work is available for entry into other juried exhibitions according to their eligibility criteria.

Judging

The PSWC Members Only Online Show has 2 categories for acceptance and judging. General members will be judged separately from Signature/DP/EP/Laureate members. General members earn one point toward PSWC Signature Status by receiving a Place Award. Cash awards of $2,600 ($5,200 total) are available in each category of judging.

*Honorable Mention awards do not earn points toward Signature status. Additional awards may be available in the form of merchandise or gift certificates TBD.

Juror and Judge of Awards

Jeanne Rosier Smith IAPS-EP, PSA-MP

Jeanne Rosier Smith is a Master Artist with the Pastel Society of America, a fellow at the St Botolph Club of Boston, a Copley Society Master Artist, and an IAPS Eminent pastelist. She is a signature member of the American Society of Marine Artists and the American Impressionist Society. She has exhibited at the Massachusetts State House, the Guild of Boston Artists, the Salmagundi Club, the St Botolph Club, the National Arts Club and museums around the country. Her work has garnered top awards including the Prix de Pastel (Best in Show) from IAPS, a Grand Prize in International Artist Magazine Seascape Competition, and two Art Spirit Foundation Gold Medals for Excellence in Pastel. She has placed in the Pastel Journal’s Pastel 100 for seven years, winning two first places before serving as national landscape judge for the competition in 2023. Her paintings are in collections worldwide.

Entry Fees

  • Up to 5 paintings, $15 per painting
  • No more than ONE painting will be accepted into the PSWC MOOS.
  • You may pay online with a valid credit card.
  • For a submission to be accepted, PSWC membership and entry fees must be paid by the entry deadline of Monday, February 8, 2027.
  • Over-payment of any fee will be considered a donation to PSWC’s Scholarship Fund.
  • Entry Fees are Nonrefundable
All entries will be checked against PSWC’s current membership records to verify eligibility.

Eligibility

  • Open to all current members over the age of 18 years.
  • Dues for 2027 must be paid by the deadline – Monday, February 8, 2027 for entries to be judged.

    ShowSubmit does not process membership applications or membership dues. It's very easy to become a member of PSWC just by going to our website pswc.ws and clicking on Membership at the top of the home page.
  • Dry Pastels Only - 80% of the top layer of the painting entered must be dry pastel.
  • Your work must be original and based on your own references or photos, not copied from other artists, artists’ reference photos or professional photographers’ prints or digital images.
  • PSWC does not condone the use of optical projection.
  • Work completed as a student in a classroom, workshop or online group setting is not eligible.
  • Painting must be done within the last three (3) years and cannot be entered into another show concurrent with MOOS.
  • Work that has been accepted into any previous PSWC exhibition, IAPS exhibition or PSA exhibition is ineligible for the 2027 MOOS.
  • Work may only be submitted by the artist entering the show and not by a collector or owner of commissioned work.
  • No more than one (1) painting per artist will be accepted into the exhibition.

Sales

Paintings do not need to be for sale to be entered into the PSWC MOOS. If you wish to sell your accepted work you are welcome to list the sale price and contact link. PSWC does not participate in the sale of artwork accepted in the MOOS nor do we take a commission. All transactions are solely between the artist and purchaser.

Membership Status for PSWC

For information about how status levels are earned, go to pswc.ws/membership-benefits and scroll to the heading “Recognition” where the letters of distinction and status levels are described. Any member receiving status distinction of any level must maintain continuous membership with dues paid and current to maintain status level.

Disclaimer/Legal

  • Submission to this exhibition grants the Pastel Society of the West Coast permission to reproduce accepted artwork on our website, Facebook page and in our e-Blasts to all members, and for any promotional purposes related to PSWC.
  • Failure to meet any of the requirements for eligibility will result in disqualification and the work will not be considered for acceptance in the exhibition. Work that is considered offensive by PSWC standards will not be accepted.
Entry into this exhibit constitutes agreement with and acceptance of all stated rules and provisions.

Image and Filename Specifications

  • File Format: Submit original, high-quality JPEG image files. Other formats (e.g., PNG, TIFF) are not accepted.
  • Crop Your Image: Ensure only the artwork itself is visible in the image. Do not show any visible matting, frames, or background distractions.
  • Orientation: Make sure your image is oriented correctly (right side up) so that the artwork appears in its intended viewing direction.
  • Image Size: You do not need to resize your image files before uploading. The system will automatically resize them. Smaller images cannot be enlarged to meet the requirements, so ensure your images are high resolution before uploading.
  • File Names: You do not need to rename your files before uploading them. The system will handle any file naming requirements.
  • File Size: There is a 30MB maximum file size limit. Larger image files will take longer to upload and process.

Additional Entry Information

  • You will pay for your entry by credit or debit card using our secure checkout system.
  • After your entry is submitted and paid for, you may log back in to review your entry, edit artist and image information, and add or substitute images up until the entry deadline (February 8, 2027.)
  • Entry fees are not refundable and must be submitted and paid by the entry deadline.
  • Entries cannot be accepted or changed after the deadline. Incomplete entries will be disqualified.

Notifications Are Posted in Your Account

Results will be posted in your ShowSubmit account by the end of the day on February 18, 2027. You will also receive an email.
