In 1776, the Declaration of Independence proclaimed:

We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.

In 2026, during the celebration of our Nation’s 250th birthday, the NAWAPA Declaration of Art announces:

We, the women of NAWAPA, pursue and demonstrate our own visions of Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Happiness in our art at the nation’s oldest club for artists. This exhibition explores diverse perspectives and techniques.

Juror

Kate Kern Mundie is a Philadelphia-based painter, teaching artist, and demonstration artist for Winsor & Newton. A graduate of Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts, she paints landscapes and still lifes rooted in observation and the study of light and colour. Through her teaching and writing, she encourages artists to explore materials, ideas, and personal vision in their work.

Entry Fees

NAWAPA Members Only: $25 for 2 works

Eligibility

  • Open to all mediums and all paid NAWAPA members.
  • Work must be original.
  • 2D piece must be exhibit ready, professionally presented and ready to hang (no sawtooth)
  • One work no larger than 40" including frame and second work any size from 5"x10" to 20"x30".
  • 3D works must be exhibit ready and come with clear presentation instructions. No Pedestals available.
  • Small sculpture would be placed on shelf or bookcase; wall sculpture would be hung
  • Artwork cannot be suspended room ceiling.

Artwork Delivery

All artwork must be labeled with the name of the artist, name of the artwork, medium, and price. Labels must be printed and not handwritten.

Liability

Although precautions will be taken by the Sketch Club, artists may not hold the Sketch Club responsible for any damaged or lost artwork.

Sales

Work must be for sale; NFS is not allowed.
Sales handled by the Sketch Club: Commission 25% to Sketch Club; 5% to NAWAPA

Waiver

Please read carefully, your submission signifies agreement with NAWAPA, and authorizes NAWAPA to submit your art to a Venue to be considered for inclusion in an exhibition.
NAWAPA is seeking Venues to sponsor an exhibition. NAWAPA is collecting submissions from NAWAPA members (“Artists”) who are interested in participating. These submissions will be collected through an online submission site, and shared with possible Venues. NAWAPA may charge a submission fee.
By submitting, Artist agrees:
  1. Artist will be bound by additional terms imposed by online submission service and Venue, including any cost and/or commission terms.
  2. Artist is the owner and creator of the original artwork being submitted, both as to the artwork's physical manifestation and the copyright of artwork.
  3. Original art based upon another’s intellectual property is not eligible for entry into NAWA/NAWAPA exhibitions, even if permission has been obtained from the source.
  4. Artwork generated through artificial intelligence based upon a third party’s intellectual property will not be accepted.
  5. Artificial Intelligence (“AI”) assisted, as a minor component (not entirely AI generated or underpainted) and digital media are acceptable if labeled with “digital” and/or “AI assisted” somewhere in the medium label. Original digital artwork IS accepted as a fine quality printout.
  6. If AI is determined by the submission and not declared, it will be disqualified. Please be honest about your chosen medium.
  7. Artist accepts full responsibility for any casualty of any kind while the work is included in an exhibition.
  8. Nevertheless, for the purpose of this agreement, Artist agrees that the stated value of the artwork shall be One U.S. Dollar (1USD, $1), in the event of any loss or damage to the piece of artwork.
  9. Work may not be included if it fails to meet professional presentation standards (as determined by the Exhibitions Committee or Venue), included but not limited to: unprofessional framing, sawtooth hangers (must be professionally wired), or delivering the wrong work,.
Artist hereby waives any and all claims against the National Association of Women Artists, Inc., NAWAPA, as well as their employees, officers, directors and committee personnel.
Artist agrees to allow an image of artwork to be exhibited or to be used without charge for advertising and/or promotion in the furtherance of the exhibition, and for other purposes including, but not limited to, traditional media, social media, and website, as well for public relations, prior to and/or during or after the exhibition. This waiver still holds Artist to use for publicity on traditional media and the NAWA/NAWAPA websites even if Artist refuses permission to use artwork on Social Media.
In case of the latter- after the exhibition ends- NAWA and/or NAWAPA will request permission
to use images for promotion in NAWA/NAWAPA publications. Use of images by the Venue will be determined by the agreement between the Artist and the Venue.
Work is to be available for sale at the price listed when submitted.
Artist understands that each Venue/gallery has its own commission structure. Artist agrees to be bound by that fee structure.
In addition, Artist agrees to pay NAWAPA 5 percent (5%) of the sales price as listed by the Artist in this submission.
In the event of a dispute with regard to this Waiver Agreement, we agree that all disputes must be adjudicated in a State Court in the County, City and State of New York (i.e., Manhattan), under the Laws of the State of New York, without regard to choice of law rules.
Note: The use of the National Association of Women Artists, Inc.'s logo, without prior written
permission is prohibited. The use of the registered Trademark Seal and the logo of the National
Association of Women Artists, Inc. for any personal or business use on any documents, postcards, invitations, and other promotional materials and communications is a violation of law.
Upon entering this competition, Artist agrees to the policies of this Waiver.
SUBMISSION OF ART shows Artist AGREES:
  1. to the policies of this Waiver,
  2. those that indemnify NAWA and nawapa,
  3. that all fees are non-refundable,
  4. submission of art does not guarantee acceptance by the Venue.

Notifications will be emailed and posted in your ShowSubmit account by the end of the day on June 12, 2026.

If you do not receive your email, login and view the notification in your account. We cannot respond to inquiries regarding the status of notifications.

Image and Filename Specifications

  • File Format: Submit original, high-quality JPEG image files. Other formats (e.g., PNG, TIFF) are not accepted.
  • Crop Your Image: Ensure only the artwork itself is visible in the image. Do not show any visible matting, frames, or background distractions.
  • Orientation: Make sure your image is oriented correctly (right side up) so that the artwork appears in its intended viewing direction.
  • Image Size: You do not need to resize your image files before uploading. The system will automatically resize them. Smaller images cannot be enlarged to meet the requirements, so ensure your images are high resolution before uploading.
  • File Names: You do not need to rename your files before uploading them. The system will handle any file naming requirements.
  • File Size: There is a 30mb maximum file size limit. Larger image files will take longer to upload and process.

Additional Entry Information

  • You will pay for your entry by credit or debit card using our secure checkout system.
  • After your entry is submitted and paid for, you may log back in to review your entry, edit artist and image information, and add or substitute images up until the entry deadline (June 1, 2026.)
  • Entry fees are not refundable and must be submitted and paid by the entry deadline.
  • Entries cannot be accepted or changed after the deadline. Incomplete entries will be disqualified.
