Eligibility
- This competition is open to all artists, 18 years of age and over, who presently live in Indiana or Ohio.
- Works must be original, completed in the last two years, and not previously exhibited in the Richmond Art Museum Annual Exhibition.
- Accepted works may NOT be withdrawn by the artist prior to the close of the exhibition and must abide by specifications below.
- Both 2-D and 3-D works are eligible, including drawing, printmaking, mixed media, painting, photography, fiber arts, clay, jewelry, sculpture, wood and glass.
- Works must be original art produced by the submitting artist completed in 2025-2026.
- No AI generated artwork of any kind. No AI generated reference images.
- Advanced division artists’ works cannot have been executed in class or under supervision of an instructor.
Jurors
Brian Harper has taught at the university level for 20 years, including at IU Southeast and Baylor University. He holds a BFA from Northern Arizona University, an MA and MFA from the University of Iowa, and the Graduate Certificate in Nonprofit Management from Indiana University. Brian is the Founder and Executive Director of Artaxis, a nonprofit organization dedicated to advancing the ceramics field with over 1,000 members across all 50 U.S. states and more than 50 countries.
Antonio McAfee is a photographer based in Bethlehem, PA. He received his BFA in Fine Art Photography from the Corcoran College of Art and Design, his MFA in Photography from the University of Pennsylvania, and a Post-Graduate Diploma in Art from the University of the Witwatersrand (Johannesburg, South Africa). Specifications
- Each artist may submit a maximum of two works.
- All works must be maintenance-free.
- No entry may exceed 60 inches in any direction, including frame, or exceed 50 pounds in weight.

Framing
- Use flat strap wires only (no cleats, saw-tooth or clip frame hangers).
- Works on paper must be glazed (glass or plexiglass).
Insurance and Liability
Sales
Works over $5,000 need to have proof provided of previous sales.
The Richmond Art Museum will retain a 30% commission. Prices listed on the entry form must reflect this commission. Purchase Awards will be paid at 70% of the listed price. Prices of accepted works may not change after submissions close.

Notifications will be emailed and posted in your ShowSubmit account by the end of the day on September 18, 2026.
If you do not receive your email, login and view the notification in your account. We cannot respond to inquiries regarding the status of notifications.
Image and Filename Specifications
- File Format: Submit original, high-quality JPEG image files. Other formats (e.g., PNG, TIFF) are not accepted.
- Crop Your Image: Ensure only the artwork itself is visible in the image. Do not show any visible matting, frames, or background distractions.
- Orientation: Make sure your image is oriented correctly (right side up) so that the artwork appears in its intended viewing direction.
- Image Size: You do not need to resize your image files before uploading. The system will automatically resize them. Smaller images cannot be enlarged to meet the requirements, so ensure your images are high resolution before uploading.
- File Names: You do not need to rename your files before uploading them. The system will handle any file naming requirements.
- File Size: There is a 30mb maximum file size limit. Larger image files will take longer to upload and process.
Additional Entry Information
- You will pay for your entry by credit or debit card using our secure checkout system.
- After your entry is submitted and paid for, you may log back in to review your entry, edit artist and image information, and add or substitute images up until the entry deadline (September 4, 2026.)
- Entry fees are not refundable and must be submitted and paid by the entry deadline.
- Entries cannot be accepted or changed after the deadline. Incomplete entries will be disqualified.
