Entry Fees
If paying by check, be sure to pay at least three weeks before the deadline, so your fee is received before processing entries.
Exhibition Requirements
- Open to all SAA members whose dues are current.
If in doubt, confirm with the office, [email protected], that you are in good standing with your dues before submitting. After the deadline, it is too late to pay dues to stay eligible for the show. - Associates juried into the show will receive 1 point, counting toward their Signature promotion.
- Artists may submit up to two entries.
- Work exhibited in a previous SAA Annual Exhibition or special show may not be entered.
Artwork Requirements
- All work must be original and 2D work properly mounted and framed.
- Size and weight limits are flexible, but CONSIDER the cost to ship larger and heavier works BEFORE you submit to the jury! Shippers have recently changed oversize policies and increased their fees.
- Work exhibited in a previous SAA Annual Exhibition or special show may not be entered.
- All work MUST have been completed in the last five (5) years. (2022-2026)
- Unfinished works are not acceptable to the jury! This includes sculpture in clay. What you submit to the jury is the image to be used inside the catalog and promotions. If you want your signature to appear on your work in the catalog, then include it in your submission.
- While not required, we recommend a minimum frame size of 7x7 inches to facilitate the display of your work. Smaller pieces may be placed inside display cases.
- We recommend not shipping under glass. You do so at great risk of damage.
Shipping Policies
- All artists Must enclose a return label, which can be Easily found inside the crate. Exceptions would be internationals unable to process a label that early and anyone shipping freight. Artists Must email the SAA office a copy of their return label. (FedEx or UPS) International artists selected for the exhibition Must include copies of all their shipping documents. (i.e., Commercial Invoice, Works of Art for Duty-Free Entry, …whatever applies to your shipment)
- For those who follow the above instructions and email the office a copy of their inbound shipping receipt, all accepted artists will receive reimbursement for their shipping to the 2026 Annual Exhibition, up to $200*. YES, it’s true! We’re trying to help offset the ever-increasing costs to participate in our Annual Exhibitions. *Details will be outlined in communications with accepted artists.
- If you Do not enclose a return label, your work may not be displayed.
- Works arriving after the shipping window due to the artist’s error may be rejected. Artists are also subject to being excluded from SAA shows for two years.
- All shipping costs (inbound and outbound) are the responsibility of the artist. Direct-billed return labels must be placed where they can be easily found inside your crate. Any customs charges are the responsibility of the artist.
- Works that are sold and to be shipped will require an updated shipping label from the artist. YOU ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR THE COST OF SHIPPING TO A BUYER! Factor this cost into the price of your work for the exhibition. Return labels will be discarded for sold works when buyers pick up the work in person.
Submission Policies
- Submission to any SAA show is a commitment to participate. Artists withdrawing their work will be subject to a 2-year ban from entering any SAA exhibition.
- For Master Signature Members – You are exempt from the jury and thus have a free pass for submitting work within the category you received your Awards of Excellence. Otherwise, you are welcome to submit to our jury a work outside of your recognized category, but you MUST pay the jury fee.
