Exhibition Requirements

  • Entry is open to all members of the Buffalo Niagara Art Association and Non-Members.
  • Annual membership dues must be paid for membership pricing.
  • All two-dimensional artworks must be original.
  • No copies or works executed in a supervised workshop or class are acceptable.
  • No reproductions are allowed.
  • Work must not have previously won an award in a BNAA show.
  • Screening Committee decisions are final.

Conditions

  • As per national and gallery standards, artworks must be suitably framed, wired and ready to install (no saw tooth hangers.) The wire hanger must be low enough so that it cannot be seen when the work is hung.
  • Mats must be white or off-white.
  • Plexiglass is preferred; glass allowed on pieces up to 16”x 20”.
  • Work with incomplete or illegible entry forms are ineligible.
  • Title and price of work MUST MATCH information on the application form.
  • Artists will be informed by email of non-selected works.

Entry Fee

Member Fee: $30.00 for up to two pieces
Non-Member Fee: $35.00 for up to two pieces

Cash and Special Award

Sales

Sales are encouraged. Price on Request (POR) listings are not permitted. The gallery receives a 25% commission on all work sold during the show. All sales transactions are handled directly by the individual artists, and the gallery will provide interested buyers with the artist’s contact information.

Juror of Selection and Awards

Kathleen Giles is an award-winning watercolor artist known for her strikingly realistic portrayals of everyday life. Her work is defined by strong values, rich color, and keen attention to detail across a variety of subjects. Kathleen holds numerous prestigious distinctions, and her work has been featured in many juried national exhibitions, earning her recognition within the watercolor and realism communities. In addition to her studio practice, Kathleen is a dedicated educator who travels throughout the United States teaching watercolor workshops, both in person and online.

Receiving

Hand-delivered artwork only. We cannot accepted shipped artwork.

Monday, July 6th 11 AM - 1 pm.

If you are unable to drop off on this day, please have another individual drop off your work.

Accepted work

If your work is accepted you will be notified by email by Monday, June 1, 2026. See the Additional Notification Information section below for more information.

Exhibition Dates

Show Opens July 12th and Opening Reception is Sunday, July 19th 12 PM – 3 PM

Pick-up work

Sun August 23 12 PM - 3 PM or Mon August 24 12 PM – 1 PM. If you are unable to pick up at this day and time, please have another member pick up your work. You will be charged a storage fee of $50 per day for artwork not picked up on time.

Liability

Although the greatest possible care will be taken of all submitted pieces, neither the Charles E. Burchfield Nature & Art Center nor the BNAA may be held responsible for damage or loss of any pieces submitted whatever the cause. The artists release and discharge the officers of the BNAA and its representatives and employees and assistants of the Charles E. Burchfield Nature & Art Center from any and all claims occasioned by damage or loss of said images or painting(s) while in the possession of the BNAA or the Charles E. Burchfield Nature & Art Center. Submitting works denotes acceptance of this fact.

Additional Notification Information

Notifications will be emailed and posted in your ShowSubmit account by the end of the day on June 1, 2026.

If you do not receive your email, login and view the notification in your account. We cannot respond to inquiries regarding the status of notifications.

Image and Filename Specifications

  • File Format: Submit original, high-quality JPEG image files. Other formats (e.g., PNG, TIFF) are not accepted.
  • Crop Your Image: Ensure only the artwork itself is visible in the image. Do not show any visible matting, frames, or background distractions.
  • Orientation: Make sure your image is oriented correctly (right side up) so that the artwork appears in its intended viewing direction.
  • Image Size: You do not need to resize your image files before uploading. The system will automatically resize them. Smaller images cannot be enlarged to meet the requirements, so ensure your images are high resolution before uploading.
  • File Names: You do not need to rename your files before uploading them. The system will handle any file naming requirements.
  • File Size: There is a 30mb maximum file size limit. Larger image files will take longer to upload and process.

Additional Entry Information

  • You will pay for your entry by credit or debit card using our secure checkout system.
  • After your entry is submitted and paid for, you may log back in to review your entry, edit artist and image information, and add or substitute images up until the entry deadline (May 25, 2026.)
  • Entry fees are not refundable and must be submitted and paid by the entry deadline.
  • Entries cannot be accepted or changed after the deadline. Incomplete entries will be disqualified.
