Salmagundi Club

The Village Through The Years

An Illustration Show

Moran Gallery

December 8 – 31, 2026

Deadline is October 22nd. 5 weeks left to enter.

About the Exhibition

In 1871, The Salmagundi Club began with an illustrators meeting to critique their illustrations and show their paintings. Among our members were Thomas Hartley, Howard Pyle, N.C. Wyeth, and Norman Rockwell. In 1917, the Club made its home at 47 Fifth Avenue, an 1852 mansion built when Fifth Avenue was the most fashionable address in Gilded Age New York. This December, following last year’s “Illustration: Then & Now,” we invite artists to choose their own path:

Our stretch of Fifth Avenue has seen bustles give way to minidresses, carriages give way to cars. We have seen protests and parades of all sorts. The Village was and is a center of our culture and change. Illustrate a single scene of Village life and events in whatever medium suits the image.
