Kathy Falla Howard, residing in Arizona, works both in oil and pastel receiving great recognition for both. Her work is featured in magazines, numerous group exhibitions, and museum shows.

We are pleased and privileged to have renowned artist Lori Putnam to select awards on site while in Arizona. “Recognized for her expressive brushwork, contemporary compositions, and intelligent use of color, Nashville, Tennessee native Lori Putnam paints small to medium-sized works in plein air and creates large paintings in her studio. Having painted and taught in more than 30 different countries, (including Ukraine, New Zealand, Guatemala, and much of Europe and the UK), she believes works created from life help her maintain freshness in her studio paintings.”

Lori is a distinguished member of many organizations, frequent participant in the Plein Air Convention and Plein Air Live, and has recently published another insightful and informative book “Lori Putnam: So Far”.

Entry Fee

  • APAP Members only: $40 for up to 4 pieces.
  • A maximum of two can be selected.

Eligibility

  • You must be a paid member in good standing of APAP to participate.

  • You may submit up to 4 pieces of artwork for $40. A maximum of two can be selected. You may not exchange or fail to provide a painting once selected.

Image Requirements

  • Submit high quality JPG format.
  • ShowSubmit will resize and rename image files. Fill in all other information required.
  • The image must be art only, no gaps, mat, or frame showing.

Artwork Requirements

  • Created en plein air in Arizona between Jan 1, 2024 & Nov 30, 2025.
  • Created 80% en plein air, up to 20% finished in the studio.
  • Not submitted to any previous APAP juried shows.
  • Accepted Mediums: Oil, Acrylic, Watercolor, Gouache, Pastel, Wax, Mixed media.
  • Substrate size: 6x8 inches or 48” square inches (min) to 24x36 or 864” square in. (max), unframed.
  • Artwork must be ready to hang.
  • NO sawtooth hangers or wrapped canvas.
  • Frames must be in excellent condition.
  • Label your artwork on the back with your name, dimensions, and artwork title.
  • Delivery/Shipping instructions provided upon selection.

Sales

All artwork must be for sale. Scottsdale Artists' School will handle sales.

Terms

APAP and the Scottsdale Artists' School are not responsible for any damage to artwork. By submitting to this show you are agreeing to all rules and regulations.

Additional Notification Information

Notifications will be emailed and posted in your ShowSubmit account by the end of the day on December 8, 2025.

You may view the notification in your ShowSubmit account by logging in and tapping the Notifications at the top right of the screen, or in your Entry History.

If you do not receive your email, login and view the notification in your account. We cannot respond to inquiries regarding the status of notifications.

Image and Filename Specifications

  • File Format: Submit original, high-quality JPEG image files. Other formats (e.g., PNG, TIFF) are not accepted.
  • Crop Your Image: Ensure only the artwork itself is visible in the image. Do not show any visible matting, frames, or background distractions.
  • Orientation: Make sure your image is oriented correctly (right side up) so that the artwork appears in its intended viewing direction.
  • Image Size: You do not need to resize your image files before uploading. The system will automatically resize them. Smaller images cannot be enlarged to meet the requirements, so ensure your images are high resolution before uploading.
  • File Names: You do not need to rename your files before uploading them. The system will handle any file naming requirements.
  • File Size: There is a 30mb maximum file size limit. Larger image files will take longer to upload and process.

Additional Entry Information

  • You will pay for your entry by credit or debit card using our secure checkout system.
  • After your entry is submitted and paid for, you may log back in to review your entry, edit artist and image information, and add or substitute images up until the entry deadline (December 1, 2025.)
  • Entry fees are not refundable and must be submitted and paid by the entry deadline.
  • Entries cannot be accepted or changed after the deadline. Incomplete entries will be disqualified.
