Description

The Black Swamp Arts Council is a non-profit arts organization that has been serving Northwest Ohio for over 25 years. It offers a wide range of arts programs for all ages, including Creative Arts Camps, classes, concerts, scholarships, art shows, and more. In November 2024, the Black Swamp Arts Center opened in the heart of downtown Archbold, serving as a vibrant hub for arts activities, featuring class room and exhibition space, a gallery, and a retail store. The Council is funded through private donations, foundation grants, corporate sponsorships, and support from the Ohio Arts Council.

Entry Fee

$30 for up to 3 entries.

Entry fees are non-refundable.

Eligibility

  • Participation is open to all artists 18 and older.
  • Only original work will be accepted.
  • Photography not accepted during this exhibit.
  • Each accepted work must be identified with the following information attached to the back: Artist Name, Address Phone, Email Address; Title; Media; and Price/Nfs.
  • All work must fit through a standard door and be easily moved by two people.
Please note: Any entry with wet paint, loose dust, wet/sticky substance on any surface or any submission will be disqualified.

2D Works

  • All 2-D hanging work must be framed, wired and ready to hang (no saw tooth hangers)
  • Works on canvas must be framed or canvas edges painted and stapled on back, not sides (gallery wrap).
  • No clip-frames, glass sandwich frames or acetate coverings.
  • Frames must enclosed on all four sides.
  • Size of 2-D work not to exceed 48” in any direction including frame.

3D Works

  • Works intended to be displayed on a BSAC pedestal, must not exceed 16” in width.
  • This includes total combined dimensions of multiple-part entries.
  • Three-dimensional works intended to hang may not exceed 36”H x 24”W and must be appropriately wired for hanging.

Agreement

Submission of a work for jurying shall constitute an agreement to comply with all the conditions set forth in this prospectus. The BSAC and juror reserve the right to a final selection of accepted works. Decisions made by the BSAC and juror are final. Judging for awards will be conducted in person. The juror and/or BSAC may exercise the right to reject any work for any reason without explanation.

Liability

BSAC disclaims any liability for the loss, damage, or theft of any artwork exhibited or stored on its premises. Artists are responsible for insuring their own work from delivery to pick-up and return to artist.

Sales

Artwork for sale is encouraged. Work available for sale will be sold at the price indicated on the entry form. BSAC retains a 30% commission.

Rights & Reproductions

Artist agrees that accepted works may be used for publicity by Black Swamp Arts Center.

Notifications will be emailed and posted in your ShowSubmit account by the end of the day on September 12, 2025.

Image and Filename Specifications

  • File Format: Submit original, high-quality JPEG image files. Other formats (e.g., PNG, TIFF) are not accepted.
  • Crop Your Image: Ensure only the artwork itself is visible in the image. Do not show any visible matting, frames, or background distractions.
  • Orientation: Make sure your image is oriented correctly (right side up) so that the artwork appears in its intended viewing direction.
  • Image Size: You do not need to resize your image files before uploading. The system will automatically resize them. Smaller images cannot be enlarged to meet the requirements, so ensure your images are high resolution before uploading.
  • File Names: You do not need to rename your files before uploading them. The system will handle any file naming requirements.
  • File Size: There is a 30mb maximum file size limit. Larger image files will take longer to upload and process.

Additional Entry Information

  • You will pay for your entry by credit or debit card using our secure checkout system.
  • After your entry is submitted and paid for, you may log back in to review your entry, edit artist and image information, and add or substitute images up until the entry deadline (September 8, 2025.)
  • Entry fees are not refundable and must be submitted and paid by the entry deadline.
  • Entries cannot be accepted or changed after the deadline. Incomplete entries will be disqualified.
