Description

The Black Swamp Art Center launches its first 2025 juried exhibition with its “Art Without Bounds”, running from May 21 through July 12, 2025. This showcase celebrates a wide variety of artworks in various themes, and mediums, and offers captivating experiences to be sure to inspire a community of all interests and all backgrounds. In this exhibition, the show participants will be selected by a juror through ShowSubmit. Each applicant will be able to submit up to three pieces. Once selections are made, you will be notified.

Invited artists will need to drop off work according to the schedule. Judging for awards will be done in person. Winners will be notified, and prize money will be given at the reception. Although it is highly recommended to attend the reception, winners do not need to be present to receive the award.

  • Best of Show: $200
  • 3 Outstanding Awards: $100 each
  • 3 Honorable Mentions: $50 each
  • People’s Choice Award: $50

Eligibility

Open to all artists 18 and older

Eligible Work

  • All mediums are welcome
  • 2-DIMENSIONAL: Such as watercolor, water-based, oil-based media, mixed media, photographic media, and computer-based media that is intended to be hung on the wall.
  • 3-DIMENSIONAL MEDIA: such as sculpture, pottery, glass, wood, jewelry; work that is intended to be viewed from multiple angles.

Rules:

  • All work must be hand delivered and picked up at the Black Swamp Arts Center, 210 N. Defiance St., Archbold, OH 43502
  • All work must be original
  • All works must be labeled with artist’s name, phone, title of work, medium, and price taped to the back or bottom of the work.
  • Works intended to be displayed on a BSAC pedestal, must not exceed 16” in width
  • Artist-owned pedestals must accompany any 3-D work that exceeds 16” in width that is not intended to be shown from the floor.
  • All 2-D hanging work must be framed, wired and ready to hang (no saw tooth hangers)
  • Wrapped canvases must be finished with painted edges
  • All work must fit through a standard door and be easily moved by two people.

Liability

Entries will be handled with all possible care, but BSAC will not be responsible for loss or damage to submitted artwork from any cause whatsoever. Submission of artwork to this exhibition implies acceptance by the artist of all conditions outlined. BSAC is not responsible for abandoned artwork.

Sales

All sales will go through the BSAC sales operating system. Bags and wrapping will be provided, and all fees and sales tax will be handled by BSAC. BSAC will take a 30% commission on all work sold during the exhibition. Payments will be distributed to artists after the conclusion of the show in a timely fashion.

Publicity

Black Swamp Arts Council reserves the right to photograph participating artists and exhibited works for marketing purposes.

Notifications will be emailed and posted in your ShowSubmit account by the end of the day on May 7, 2025.

Image and Filename Specifications

  • File Format: Submit original, high-quality JPEG image files. Other formats (e.g., PNG, TIFF) are not accepted.
  • Crop Your Image: Ensure only the artwork itself is visible in the image. Do not show any visible matting, frames, or background distractions.
  • Orientation: Make sure your image is oriented correctly (right side up) so that the artwork appears in its intended viewing direction.
  • Image Size: You do not need to resize your image files before uploading. The system will automatically resize them. Smaller images cannot be enlarged to meet the requirements, so ensure your images are high resolution before uploading.
  • File Names: You do not need to rename your files before uploading them. The system will handle any file naming requirements.
  • File Size: There is a 30mb maximum file size limit. Larger image files will take longer to upload and process.

Additional Entry Information

  • You will pay for your entry by credit or debit card using our secure checkout system.
  • After your entry is submitted and paid for, you may log back in to review your entry, edit artist and image information, and add or substitute images up until the entry deadline (April 30, 2025.)
  • Entry fees are not refundable and must be submitted and paid by the entry deadline.
  • Entries cannot be accepted or changed after the deadline. Incomplete entries will be disqualified.
