Entry Fees

Non-Members: $40 for up to 3 portraits, $5 per portrait up to maximum of 5.
CSOPA Members: $25 for up to 3 portraits, $5 per portrait up to maximum of 5.

CSOPA membership is not required to enter. Submission does not guarantee selection by CSOPA for the exhibit. Substitutions and late entries will not be accepted.

Exhibition Requirements

  • Open call for classic and contemporary portraits and figures.
  • Selected artists will be asked to provide a paragraph about their portrait process and a photo of themselves for labels.
  • Artists are responsible for delivery or shipping arrangements for delivery and return of selected entries to The Greenwich Botanical Center within specified dates and times.
  • CSOPA membership is not required to enter.
  • Submission does not guarantee selection.

Artwork Requirements

  • Original representational portrait and figurative paintings, drawings and sculptures.
  • Photography, digital art or collage may be utilized in your original composition as a secondary medium only.
  • Giclee, canvas transfers, photography or computer images will not be accepted.
  • Nude subjects are not allowed.
  • Maximum width and height for paintings and drawings is 40" before framing, 46” with frame.
  • Gallery-wrap canvas without additional frame is permissible (enter the same dimensions from Work Size in the Frame Size fields).
  • Works must be securely wired for hanging. No saw-toothed hangers.
  • Standard sculpture pedestals are available on site.
  • Artwork must be available from receiving through pick-up.

Sales

Works for sale are encouraged. Price for similar is acceptable. Please note that all sales are subject to Commission – 20% to The Greenwich Botanical Center on sales made during exhibition, 5% to CSOPA during exhibition or subsequent to exhibition as a result of this show.

Awards

Cash prizes for First, Second and Third place artwork. Sponsor Gifts, Ribbons for Honorable Mention and Certificates of Merit awarded at the Jurors’ discretion.

Shipping Artwork

If using a shipper, please specify in art description. Art should be easy to unpack. Include a return label.

Artwork Removal

All art MUST be picked up April 24 after 8pm, or Friday April 25 11-1pm. Works not removed at this time will be charged $20/day storage fee and stored at the artist's own risk.

Agreement of Entry and Liability

While every effort will be made to safely handle your art, artists should self-insure their work. Entry gives your consent to participate in this exhibition with the understanding that neither our host gallery nor The Connecticut Society of Portrait Artists can be held liable for any damage, loss, or dispute.

Entry gives your consent for selected works to be included in promotional materials printed and online.

Notifications will be emailed and posted in your ShowSubmit account by the end of the day on February 17, 2025.

Image and Filename Specifications

  • Submit your original JPEG image files.
  • Crop out all parts of the photo that are not the actual work; do not show mat, frame, etc, only the work itself.
  • Image must be displayed right side up.
  • You do not need to resize your image files.
  • You do not need to rename your image files.

Additional Entry Information

  • You will pay for your entry by credit or debit card using our secure checkout system.
  • After your entry is submitted and paid for, you may log back in to review your entry, edit artist and image information, and add or substitute images up until the entry deadline (February 7, 2025.)
  • Entry fees are not refundable and must be submitted and paid by the entry deadline.
  • Entries cannot be accepted or changed after the deadline. Incomplete entries will be disqualified.
