About the Exhibition

FALC Master Artists have two opportunities for the Masters at the Mayton Call for Art this holiday season.

Holiday Montage
First, we are asking each FALC Master Artist to create one 12” x 12” unframed and unwired painting on 3/4 inch gallery wrapped canvas (or same sized other substrate) with a seasonal or holiday theme. We will create a grid/montage display for the big lobby wall at the Mayton with these works, similar to the cover art for this call. We will attach each painting to the wall using Velcro or a similar mechanism so as not to put holes in the wall. Each artist’s work will be displayed and will be for sale for no less than $700. First Floor Hallways Exhibition
Second, the current Masters artwork in cubbies in the Mayton lobby comes down on November 16 so that the Mayton can install its annual holiday décor in the cubbies. At this time, we are not planning a formal call to replace the artwork on the walls or in the hallways until 2027. However, if you have some work you would like to submit now, please do so. We can swap it out on November 16. A holiday theme is acceptable but not required.

We will be installing another complete Masters exhibition on January 4, 2027 once the Mayton removes its holiday décor from the lobby. Be on the lookout for that call later this year.

General Maximum Sizes for art in the hallways for The Mayton Masters Exhibition are as follows. Again, these measurements are generalities. Ask us if you have a particular space in mind.

If we have already arranged with you for submission of a particular piece, please upload that as one of your submissions.

Master Artists of the Fine Arts League of Cary should submit at least one 12” x 12” work for the Mayton Lobby wall. Master Artists may submit up to four additional works for consideration for the First Floor Hallways.

Eligibility Requirements

  • Open to Master Artists of the Fine Arts League of Cary.
  • For the lobby wall display, paintings in oil, acrylic, watercolor or pastel on 12” x 12” unframed, gallery-wrapped canvas or similarly-sized substrate should be submitted. The painting should not be wired for hanging.
  • For the Mayton First Floor Hallways, any 2D artwork is acceptable, such as painting, photography, collaging, mixed media, pastel, pen and ink, etc
  • 3D, sculpture, crafts, or other forms of decorative arts are not eligible for entry.
Original work shall comply with the following criteria:
  1. The work is the artist’s original creation and is not, in whole or in part, a copy of any other person’s work or photograph.
  2. The work is not a photographic computer generated or other form of electronically generated work.
  3. Photographs must be original work, printed in either a darkroom or computer on photographic paper. Photographs on canvas are acceptable. Digitally created images are acceptable if the entirety of the artwork and all digital elements are solely the creation of the artist. Minor revisions such as burning, dodging, contrast adjustment are allowed. Except as stated above, no computer-generated, digitally manipulated imagery (beyond digital darkroom) or photoshopping, etc. are allowed.
  4. Art reproductions including giclee, art prints, etc., are not eligible. No copies, mechanical reproductions, molds or kit work will be accepted.

Rules for Entry

Each entry of the proposed artwork is to be:
  1. Uploaded using the ShowSubmit portal.
  2. Shown without frame, mat, glass, or background visible.
  3. Presented with the image right-side up and not blurry.
  4. Work on gallery-wrapped canvas may be unframed if the edges are painted. The unframed gallery-wrapped canvas must be at least 1 ½ inches deep.
  5. All works must be wired to gallery standards.
  6. Artwork must be labeled on the back with the artist’s name, phone number and email.
  7. Artwork must be for sale. The Fine Arts League of Cary will receive a commission of 25% of the sale.
  8. Entries must be family appropriate. FALC has the right to refuse work deemed inappropriate.

Sales

Work must be for sale; NFS is not allowed. The Fine Arts League of Cary will receive a commission of 25% of the sale.

Liability

All entries will be handled with the best care possible. However, FALC, its members and the hosting facility shall not be responsible for loss or damage from any cause. By entering any FALC exhibition or venue, the entering member agrees to abide by these rules.
The artist retains copyright to their image. However, by submitting to this exhibition, artist agrees to FALC's use of the images for publicity (including future FALC event promotion) and archival purposes. Submission of entries constitutes agreement with all conditions set forth in this prospectus.

Image and Filename Specifications

  • File Format: Submit original, high-quality JPEG image files. Other formats (e.g., PNG, TIFF) are not accepted.
  • Crop Your Image: Ensure only the artwork itself is visible in the image. Do not show any visible matting, frames, or background distractions.
  • Orientation: Make sure your image is oriented correctly (right side up) so that the artwork appears in its intended viewing direction.
  • Image Size: You do not need to resize your image files before uploading. The system will automatically resize them. Smaller images cannot be enlarged to meet the requirements, so ensure your images are high resolution before uploading.
  • File Names: You do not need to rename your files before uploading them. The system will handle any file naming requirements.
  • File Size: There is a 30MB maximum file size limit. Larger image files will take longer to upload and process.

Additional Entry Information

  • You will pay for your entry by credit or debit card using our secure checkout system.
  • After your entry is submitted and paid for, you may log back in to review your entry, edit artist and image information, and add or substitute images up until the entry deadline (November 6, 2026.)
  • Entry fees are not refundable and must be submitted and paid by the entry deadline.
  • Entries cannot be accepted or changed after the deadline. Incomplete entries will be disqualified.

Notifications Are Posted in Your Account

Results will be posted in your ShowSubmit account by the end of the day on November 10, 2026. You will also receive an email.
