About

In this juried show featuring work by current members of GBA, each artist is challenged to interpret their concept of how flora and fauna take form in their work. What challenges one most about the natural world: the palette, textures or the sheer beauty? Does it reflect a reverence for the power that nature can unleash or the fragility of every living thing? Or both? Is it the complexity or the contrasting simplicity? Each artist expresses their intention through drawing, painting, mixed media, photography, sculpture, textiles, glass or ceramics. We are looking for marvelously varied results!

Have fun exploring!

Venue

Dates
February 13 – March 1, 2026

Gallery hours
11am –3pm, Tuesday through Sunday.

Eligibility

  • This Show is open to all current members of the Guild of Berkshire Artists.
  • More than 20 artists with over 50 pieces will be selected by BBG jurors.
  • All art media, including 2D and 3D are accepted.
  • Work should be “new” as of the past 2-3 years.
  • Photography must be part of a numbered series and not printed on canvas.
  • You may submit up to three related works approximately 20” X 24” plus framing in size.
  • No works over 42”w. If a piece is quite large space will dictate if one or two pieces more from that artist can be accepted.
  • One to three works will be selected per artist.
  • Larger pieces will be accepted as space allows. If a particularly large piece is accepted, there may not be space for additional works by that artist. That said, it is our intent to show multiple works by each artist.
  • The botanical gardens has requested that no human figures be included but that animal imagery is welcomed.
Please note: The beautiful galleries are historic in nature. All work must be either ready to hang on the hanging system or 3-D work must be ready to sit on the floor if large or on a pedestal provided by bbg.

Entry Fee

  • $35 per artist.
  • You may submit up to 3 works.
Entry fees are not refundable and must be paid by the entry deadline. Entries cannot be made past the deadline. No changes can be made after the entry deadline.

Artists bring selected art to the Berkshire Botanical Garden. Each work must have a label attached to the back with artist name or code, title of piece, and price. 3-D art must have a sticker with artist name, price, size medium and price on the bottom or back of the work preferably attached to the wire.

Hanging Standards

Art that does not meet GBA Hanging Standards cannot be displayed and will be rejected. GBA and the Show Committee reserve the right to review and approve any/all art and to determine the final display of all art in our shows. Our aim is to allow the maximum number of members to exhibit their best quality work.

All artwork will be organized and hung by the Hanging Committee. Complete Hanging Standards are available on berkshireartists.org.

All 2D work that is intended to be hung on the panels or walls is to be securely wired 1/3 down from the top and ready to hang with no saw-tooth or loop hangers permitted.

Alternative Mounting Methods: Unframed work should be mounted on a dimensionally stable substrate no less than ½” thick. The sides should be finished. Hanging wire standards apply. Photographs on metal must be presented according to current gallery standards and include backing to allow the piece to stand ½” away from the wall.

3D Art must be able to sit/stand on a level surface, or have a suitable stand included.

Complete Hanging Standards are available on the Guild’s website.
The Berkshire Botanical Garden gallery is managed and supported by each member participating in shows by accepting hosting responsibilities and marketing to their family and friends.

All artists
in the show are expected to help with hosting the show. We will ask you to select a day/ time for yourself, or your designated alternate, when you bring your work to check-in on Wednesday February 11, noon - 4pm.

The Botanical Garden will also market the exhibit through their PR channels and seasonal publication.

The Guild will create a flyer that can be used for print or social media by participating artists who will surely want to share it with their family and friends in addition to marketing provided by the Guild.
