Juror

Gary Brooks earned a B.F.A. in painting and an M.A. in Art Education from the University of Cincinnati. While at UC, he began painting exclusively with watercolor under the guidance of Robert Fabe and Phil Tucker and continues to paint in watercolor to this day.

Gary is a signature member of both the Ohio and Kentucky Watercolor Societies, and an associate member of American Watercolor Society, North American Watercolor Society, Pennsylvania Watercolor Society, and a member of the Greater Cincinnati Watercolor Society. His award-winning watercolors and egg tempera can be found in multiple private and corporate collections throughout the Midwest.

Statement:
"
It’s both an honor and pleasure to serve as juror for The Indiana Artists Club annual show. I look forward to seeing the rich milieu of styles, mediums, and expertise evident in the artists of Indiana. As an artist and teacher for many years, I’ve worked in multiple mediums: drawing, acrylic, oils, photography, printmaking, watercolor, egg tempera, ceramics, stained glass, and sculpture. So what is it that I look for in an award-winning piece? The commonalities across all mediums are creativity, visual interest, technical expertise, good design, and originality - a new, unique way of depicting your world. I’m looking for pieces that evoke an emotional response, that demonstrate mastery of light, color, value, and an ineffable “something” that draws me into your art.

Liability/Agreement

Works will be handled and exhibited at the risk of the artist; however, every reasonable effort will be made to protect the safety of all works of art. Works are not insured by IN/a or Hendricks Live. We suggest you provide your own insurance for the duration of the exhibit.
