Whether painting landscapes, interiors or figure, Jill Wagner’s focus is always the “light” and how it affects the subjects she’s trying to capture. An avid plein air artist, she is inspired by the American landscape and that of her beloved Italy. Participating in national plein air festivals, she travels the country to paint the uniqueness of each region. She spends cold Michigan winters creating larger studio piece…. but always chasing the light.

Jill’s artwork has been exhibited in solo and group exhibitions throughout the US and is in many corporate and private collections. Her paintings have won multiple awards regionally and nationally.

One of Wagner’s pastel paintings grace the cover of Plein Air Magazine, and her work is often featured in their pages. Fine Art Connoisseur Magazine highlighted her work, as has Pastel Journal. She served as Pastel Faculty at the Plein Air Convention for 5 years and loves teaching her own workshops. Jill has two pastel videos available from Streamline Publishing.

A designated Master Pastelist in Pastel Society of American and Master Circle in the International Association of Pastel Societies, Jill also belongs to American Impressionist Society, Oil Painter of America, Great Lakes Pastel Society, Degas Pastel Society and American Women Artists. Her work is represented by 3 Fine Art Galleries in the Midwest. She received a B.F.A. from the University of Michigan School of Art and before painting full time, owned an award-winning advertising firm in Ann Arbor.
