Juror of Selection

Ng Woon Lam
Ng Woon Lam (黄运南) is a Singaporean watercolor artist, educator, and Associate Professor at Nanyang Technological University School of Art, Design and Media. He holds an MFA in Painting from the New York Academy of Art and is a Signature Member of both the American Watercolor Society (AWS) and the National Watercolor Society (NWS). Internationally recognized for his contributions to watercolor painting, Ng received the prestigious AWS Bronze Medal of Honor twice, at the 142nd and 147th Annual International Juried Exhibitions, and was awarded the AWS Dolphin Fellowship in 2014 for sustained excellence in watercolor practice. He has received over 50 national and international awards, exhibited widely including at the Florence Biennale, and has been featured in leading art publications.

Influenced by Singapore watercolor master Gog Sing Hooi, his work combines expressive Chinese calligraphic brushwork with contemporary watercolor techniques, guided by the philosophy of Taiji (太极) to explore balance, harmony, and movement.

Judge of Awards

Kenneth Call
Born and raised in Rochelle, Illinois, Ken went on to graduate from the American Academy of Art in 1980 with an Associates Degree in Illustration and Watercolor. He has worked as a freelance artist nationally for many years. Ken spent 1993 and 1994 studying and painting in Paris, France. He is now living in Northbrook Illinois with his wife and two children.

After beginning his career as a studio artist, he soon branched out on his own, beginning a very successful freelance career, which to date has led to the creation of over 500 illustrations for books, magazines, art publishers, advertising agencies and corporations.

Ken in the last few years has made the transition to fine art and portraiture. Many of his originals are hanging in galleries and homes across the country. Several awards have led to Signature status in the American Watercolor Society, National Watercolor Society, Missouri Watercolor Society and
Transparent Watercolor Society Master along with being a Master Signature member with the Illinois Watercolor Society.

  • The entry fee entitles entrants to submit two paintings for consideration by the Juror of Selection.Only one painting will be selected.
  • No refunds will be given once your entry is submitted, regardless of its status. Entries may be disqualified for not following entry guidelines, including digital image preparation.
  • Member dues must be paid in full before entering the PWCS 2026 International Works on Paper Exhibit. “Paid in Full” means your dues are paid until December 31, 2026.

Conditions and Rules for Acceptance

  • Artists must be 18 or older.
  • Work cannot have been accepted in any prior PWCS exhibition. Selected artwork cannot be displayed concurrently in other shows.
  • Entries must have been created within the last 3 years. Artwork produced before June 2023 will not be accepted.
  • Artists may not substitute another work for an accepted work.
  • Artists notified of acceptance may not withhold their work for any reason. Once accepted, works cannot be withheld from the exhibition. “Failure to Deliver” will result in a two-year exclusion from all juried PWCS exhibitions.
  • All entries must be for sale. Prices cannot be changed once submitted.
  • For any art purchases, the Wayne Art Center will take 40% commission. Please price your artwork accordingly.

Eligible Work

  • Media: Besides watercolor, soft pastels, charcoal, graphite, colored pencil, pen & ink, gouache, acrylic, and hand-pulled prints are also accepted. All work must be original and on paper. Clay prints on Reemay using water-soluble mediums are acceptable. Collage elements must be of paper and cannot be mounted on canvas. Any image or color on collage papers must be of water media, and the work of the artist – no cutouts from digital work will be accepted.
  • Oils, oil pastels, photographic, digital, electronic processes, or computer art will not be accepted.
  • The artwork must be original and not completed under teacher supervision, either in a class/workshop (online or in person), from a DVD, or from a book. The entrant must have taken the photo reference.
  • Because of limited gallery space, framed size cannot exceed 42” in height or width.
  • No side of the image visible within the mat can be less than 10” unless the length multiplied by the width exceeds 100 square inches (i.e., 9” x 12” = 108 sq in.) Note that the painting is measured within the mat's border, not the paper size used before matting.
  • All works must be prepared for hanging.

Shipping Instructions

  • All works must be securely and appropriately packaged to ensure their protection
  • All shipped artworks must include prepaid return shipping labels. Works received without return labels will incur a $50 dollar handling fee.
  • Artists are encouraged to use reliable carriers with tracking and handling services appropriate for artwork transportation. FedEx and USPS are recommended for the shipment of submitted work

Insurance

Accepted artists will receive detailed shipping and delivery instructions with their Acceptance Notice. Artists are also encouraged to carry their own insurance to protect their artwork during transit and exhibition.

Notifications

Results will be announced by email on or about Monday, August 10, 2026. Accepted artists will receive an email listing their selected painting, while artists whose works are not selected will also be notified by email.

Conditions for Accepted Work

All artwork must have a clean image without a mat showing. PWCS reserves the right to review all entries for conformance to the specifications outlined herein and to reject any work that does not conform to entry requirements and/or does not match the accepted digital entry.

Withholding

Once accepted, works cannot be withheld from the exhibition. “Failure to Deliver” will result in a two-year exclusion from all juried PWCS exhibitions.

Exhibition Catalog

The 2026 International Exhibition will feature a printed catalog of accepted artwork and award winners again. The catalog is an excellent addition to our 126th exhibition and will be sent to all participants following the exhibition's close (note: International exhibitors will receive a PDF version).

In the past, we had a grant to help us pay for the catalog; however, that ended in 2019. We would appreciate a small donation towards catalog production. Please go to the 126th International
Exhibition of Works on Paper webpage to donate. The donation button will be in the bottom right corner.

Signature Membership

An Associate Member of PWCS in good standing will become a Signature Member after exhibiting in two of our International Exhibitions. However, they cannot have had an interruption in membership between the first and second exhibitions. Signature Members in good standing may use the initials “PWCS” after their name.

Notifications will be emailed and posted in your ShowSubmit account by the end of the day on August 10, 2026.

If you do not receive your email, login and view the notification in your account. We cannot respond to inquiries regarding the status of notifications.

Image and Filename Specifications

  • File Format: Submit original, high-quality JPEG image files. Other formats (e.g., PNG, TIFF) are not accepted.
  • Crop Your Image: Ensure only the artwork itself is visible in the image. Do not show any visible matting, frames, or background distractions.
  • Orientation: Make sure your image is oriented correctly (right side up) so that the artwork appears in its intended viewing direction.
  • Image Size: You do not need to resize your image files before uploading. The system will automatically resize them. Smaller images cannot be enlarged to meet the requirements, so ensure your images are high resolution before uploading.
  • File Names: You do not need to rename your files before uploading them. The system will handle any file naming requirements.
  • File Size: There is a 30mb maximum file size limit. Larger image files will take longer to upload and process.

Additional Entry Information

  • You will pay for your entry by credit or debit card using our secure checkout system.
  • After your entry is submitted and paid for, you may log back in to review your entry, edit artist and image information, and add or substitute images up until the entry deadline (July 20, 2026.)
  • Entry fees are not refundable and must be submitted and paid by the entry deadline.
  • Entries cannot be accepted or changed after the deadline. Incomplete entries will be disqualified.
