The work will be hung in the Skylight and Rockwell Galleries
Exhibition Requirements
- Open to Salmagundi artist members only
- All mediums accepted.
- Artists may submit 2 works for consideration.
- Only work not previously offered at Salmagundi auctions will be accepted.
- Artists are responsible for submitting images with accurate representation of their unframed and framed work. All submitted images are assumed to be images of the completed piece.
- Outside dimensions of frame may not exceed 36”.
- Sculptures should be no more than 30” high and no more than 40 lbs.
- All works must be professionally framed with wire for hanging. If framing is not applicable to your work, it needs to be professionally presentable for exhibiting in a gallery space with appropriate mounting to hang or display.
- If displaying the artwork under glass, artists are strongly advised to use plexi-glass to avoid breakage. The Salmagundi Club is not responsible for broken glass damage.
- The decision of the Art Committee is final as to the selection and placement of work.
- Accepted work will remain in place through the auction and cannot be removed until it ends.
Marketing & Sales
Pricing and Bidding
- The opening bid will be 1/3 of the market price set by the artist, rounded up to the nearest bid increment. Bids increments start at $25, increases to $50 if price is above $500, increases to $100 if price is above $1000, increases to $200 if price is above $2000. ie. If the artist submitted a market price of $1200, the opening bid announced by the Auctioneer will be $400.
- It is imperative that each artist set a reasonable market price for his or her work, as these auctions are fundraisers for the Club. 50% of the selling price goes to the Club, and 50% goes to the artist.
- There will be no protective reserves other than the opening bid established by the artists ’market price.
- Artists will be notified by Salmagundi’s administrative staff when a sale is made.
Consent Questions
- Do you consent to allow the auctioneer to sell your art below the opening bid with discretion? Artists will still receive credit for 50% of the agreed upon opening bid if this occurs.
- Artists have the option of donating all proceeds from the sale of their work to support Salmagundi. Otherwise, only 50% of the proceeds will be donated to Salmagundi.
Submissions
- Framed images are not required for submission. If accepted, the option to submit extra shots of your work will be available via a separate form that's included in the acceptance email.
- Artists are able to edit their own entries during the entirety of the submission period through ShowSubmit. After the submission deadline, changes to your submission entry will not be accepted.
- Submissions not adhering to the Exhibition Requirements will be omitted. The decision of the Art Committee as to placement and installation is final.
- Acceptance / Rejection emails will be coming from ShowSubmit. If you do not receive yours by the acceptance notification date, please login and check your ShowSubmit account notifications.
Shipping & Delivery
- If accepted, the artist has the option of delivering the work in-person at the Club during our receiving days.
- If shipping the work to our location, to accommodate the possibility of shipping delays, the artist should ship with an expected arrival date of the noted receiving dates above.
- The artist must include a prepaid return shipping label from a shipping provider (USPS, UPS, Fedex, etc.) when shipping their work to the club. This is required to ship the artwork back to the artist after the exhibition ends.
- If accepted, the hangtags attached to your acceptance email must be printed out, filled out legibly, and attached to each artwork as instructed before delivery.
- After acceptance, works being shipped must be sent in reusable shipping boxes for art, with the name of the exhibition on the outside of the package. Salmagundi members receive 10% off Air Float boxes. Contact [email protected] for the member’s discount code.
