43rd Annual Open Photography Exhibition

Entry Fee

  • Up to 2 works per entry permitted.
  • $35 for one work.
  • $40 for two works.
Entry fees are not refundable and must be paid by the entry deadline.

Incomplete entries will be disqualified.

Exhibition Requirements

  • Original Photography only
  • Artists may submit two works for consideration.
  • Outside dimensions of frame may not exceed 42”.
  • Image size must not be any smaller than 5” x 7” as it is a security risk.
  • Artists are responsible for providing images with an accurate representation of their unframed work.
  • If accepted, artists will be sent instructions to provide an accurate representation of their framed work.
  • Professionally framed with wire for hanging. Work on aluminum may be unframed.
  • Only work not previously shown at Salmagundi may be submitted.
  • If work is not for sale, please write “NFS” on the hangtag that will be included in acceptance email.
  • Works not received by the stated dates will not be hung.
  • Acceptance/Rejection emails will arrive by email via ShowSubmit.
  • Artists can edit their own entries during the entirety of the submission period through ShowSubmit. After the submission deadline, changes to submission entry will not be accepted.
Submissions not adhering to the Exhibition Requirements will be omitted. The decision of the Art Committee is Final.

Sales

Work may be for sale; NFS is allowed.

It is customary for the club to receive a donation of 40% of all sales. 60% to the artist.

Shipped Work

After acceptance, works being shipped must be sent in Air Float boxes with the name of the exhibition on the outside of the package. Artists who do not utilize Air Float boxes will incur a $35 unpacking/packing charge.

Artwork Removal

Works must be removed immediately after the exhibition. A return shipping label must be provided by the artist, if the work is to be shipped back after the exhibition.

Liability

Images of accepted artwork may be used by the Club for publicity, advertising, or other purposes.
Artworks will be available for sale on The Salmagundi Club website. The artist gives consent to being photographed and/or recorded during reception, if attended.

The Salmagundi Club is not responsible for loss, fire, burglary, or any other damage to artwork submitted. Submitting or sending a work of art implies an agreement on the part of the artist with the conditions set forth above.

Art Committee

Jury selection of works is performed by members of the Salmagundi Art Committee.

  1. SCNY “Best in Show” Award, $1,500
  2. SCNY 1st Prize, $500
  3. SCNY 2nd Prize, $150
  4. SCNY 3rd Prize, $150
  5. SCNY 4th Prize, $100

Jury of Awards

Jury selection of awards is performed by the Salmagundi First Vice President and Chairman, Jury of Awards, and a jury of Salmagundi Artist Members.

Notifications will be emailed by the end of the day on May 13, 2024. We cannot respond to inquiries regarding the status of notifications before that time.

After notifications are sent, you may view the status of your entry in your ShowSubmit artist account’s Entry History. Accepted works will be notated by a green check.

If you do not receive your email, you may also view your notification letter using the View Notification link in your Entry History.

Note: Entries made prior to 2023 may not display the View Notification link.

Image and Filename Specifications

  • Submit your original JPEG image files.
  • Crop out all parts of the photo that are not the actual work; do not show mat, frame, etc, only the work itself.
  • Image must be displayed right side up.
  • You do not need to resize your image files.
  • You do not need to rename your image files.

Additional Entry Information

  • You will pay for your entry by credit or debit card using our secure checkout system.
  • After your entry is submitted and paid for, you may log back in to review your entry, edit artist and image information, and add or substitute images up until the entry deadline (May 9, 2024.)
  • Entry fees are not refundable and must be submitted and paid by the entry deadline.
  • Entries cannot be accepted or changed after the deadline. Incomplete entries will be disqualified.
