Measure Carefully
Because this is both an online and in-person show, works over the maximum size will be disqualified, as available screen space is carefully planned and allocated in advance.

Rules for Entry

Each entry of the proposed artwork is to be:
  1. Uploaded using the ShowSubmit portal.
  2. Fully representative of the work you would like to show in the online exhibit.
  3. Professionally cropped.
  4. Shown without frame, mat, glass, or background visible.
  5. Presented with the image right side up and not blurry.
  6. ShowSubmit is exceptional at resizing images. But it can not improve the quality of low resolution images. Make sure to upload quality images of at least 1500 pixels (on the longer dimension). Otherwise, you will receive an error message alerting you the image resolution is too low and is therefore unacceptable for entry.
  • List sizes up to the nearest inch.
  • Maximum art size including frame is 38” w x 48” h.
  • Minimum art size including frame is 8” w x 10” h.
  • Works over maximum size will be disqualified, as available screen space is carefully planned and allocated in advance.
  • Entries can be changed after entry up until the entry deadline, when the show is finalized and prepared for juror review.
  • All works must be wired to gallery standards and must meet professional presentation standards as interpreted by the CAG Show Committee.
  • Art delivered for the in-person Show is to be appropriately framed ready for hanging (if applicable, matted).
  • No saw tooth hangers.
  • Accepted works cannot be substituted and must be available for the duration of the Show.
  • Title and dimensions of entered work cannot be changed after the entry deadline.
  • Incomplete work, incorrect sizes and incorrectly wired art won’t be accepted or hung at the Show.
  • Gallery wraps are permitted: The side of the gallery wrapped frames are completed, either with a continuation of the painting, or with the sides painted (no bare canvas) and no staples are showing. When entering work using the Add Work form, enter the same dimensions as the Work Size in the Frame Size fields.

Jury Process

Entries will be accepted until Monday, February 10, 2025, at which time the three CAG jurors will review each entry. An email will be sent to all entries by Wednesday, February 12, 2025 notifying of acceptance or rejection to the show. For artists who enter two works, check carefully to see which work of art is accepted.

Sales

All work must be for sale. The artist agrees to the terms of the attached CAG “Special Events Contract - Conditional Sales Agreement”. The artist agrees to sell, for resale, artwork to the Guild at the price listed on the entry form by the artist for each piece of artwork. The Guild, upon sale of the artwork, agrees to pay the artist the price listed on the artwork, less a 10% donation of that price to the Guild which the artist agrees to pay to the Guild to support the non-profit Mission of the Charleston Artist Guild.

Delivery/Shipping

All artworks sold will be delivered to the CAG Gallery by the artist, at the conclusion of the in-person Show, for local pickup or for shipping to the purchaser. Artwork will be packed and shipped through QuickMail, CAG’s affiliated shipping service. The buyer will pay for the shipping of the artwork at regular QuickMail prices. QuickMail provides insurance for the artwork in the shipping cost.
