Tess McVaugh is an LA based ceramics artist known for her large-scale sculptures that explore the intersection of form, function, and metaphor. With an MFA focusing on ceramics, she honed her expertise in crafting monumental pieces that resonate with both physical and conceptual weight. Her innovative approach to the chair motif reflects a deep engagement with the body as both a physical and ideological construct, questioning the roles and expectations placed upon it.
She currently lives in Claremont with her spouse and their dog, whom they adore. Tess is currently working on her own art practice, and is also developing and teaching special education art throughout the Pomona School district for The dA Center for the Arts in Pomona CA. In her free time she loves to crochet and dive deep into conversations about art and life.
