SPINE GALLERY is an All-Member, 2D exhibit space at Atrium Wake Forest Baptist Health. Its corridor is traveled by hundreds of people daily.

Spine 2024 is limited to the first 60 entries received by the deadline of midnight, Thursday, March 21st. Members can enter up to two (2) pieces of art.

Entry Fees

  • AAWS Members only.
  • $20 per artist for up to 2 works per 2D artist
  • $20 per artist for a "body of work" per 3D artist
  • We will accept the first 60 entries.
Entry fees must be paid online by the deadline using a credit card. Entry fees are not refundable.

2D Entry Requirements

  • Artwork not to exceed 50” in any direction or weigh more than 30lbs.
  • Canvases must be framed, or gallery wrapped, and paint must be DRY!
  • Must be securely wired-NO ALLIGATOR hangers will be accepted
  • Work on paper must be protected by glass, plexiglass, or sealed
  • Artwork previously shown at the Spine Gallery with AAWS will not be accepted
  • Membership must be current

3D Entry Requirements

Reynolds Gallery Case is a large, secure, glass case Exhibit for 3D ARTWORK at Atrium Wake Forest Baptist Health.

The Reynolds case is limited by the size of the artwork submitted. Each artist will submit a body of work. Small artwork, ie: Jewelry, will allow for more pieces to create a “body of work”. Larger artwork, ie: sculpture, will require fewer pieces to create a “body of work”. Artists will be notified of acceptance as entries come in.
  • Artwork must be sufficiently protected from breakage or damage and placed in a sturdy box with your name attached.
  • No box can weigh more than 20lbs
  • Membership must be current

Sales

Work may be for sale; NFS is allowed.

Artists set the sales price if they choose to sell their work. If work is not for sale, please label it “NFS”. The artist will receive 70% of the sale price, and AAWS will retain 30%. North Carolina sales tax is added to the sales price. All sales will be handled by AAWS. Please note, that prices are not displayed at the Spine Gallery, but there will be gallery posters directing any interested buyers to AAWS. AAWS will complete the sale.

Artwork Drop-off*

Monday, March 25, 2024, 10am–12pm and 4–6pm.

*Because it’s not practical to drop artwork off at the Medical Center an Artwork drop off is scheduled on March 25th at the Masonic Center and artwork will be transported to the Medical Center on the 27th for the install.
Note: All artworks will be transported in members’ vehicles to the Medical Center on Wednesday, March 27th. Please Protect your 2-D artwork for handling and transportation and make sure your art is labeled with your name, artwork title, size, medium, and price, and the label is securely attached to the back of your artwork. 3D artwork should be wrapped, boxed, and labeled with your name.

Help Needed

Please consider helping to transport the artwork from the Masonic Center to the Medical Center, on Wednesday, March 27th, 10:15 AM. We will meet in the Parking Garage and travel from there with the artwork to the Gallery to hang the exhibit and arrange the glass case.

Many hands will be needed to complete this exhibit. Hanging the exhibit will start at 11:00 AM - Bring a snack and plan to stay about three hours from start to finish.

The Spine Gallery is on the Orange Level between the hospital and the connector to the Sticht Center. The gallery is a well-lit, spacious corridor near the “Digestive Health” Dept.

Image and Filename Specifications

  • Submit your original JPEG image files.
  • Crop out all parts of the photo that are not the actual work; do not show mat, frame, etc, only the work itself.
  • Image must be displayed right side up.
  • You do not need to resize your image files.
  • You do not need to rename your image files.

Additional Entry Information

  • You will pay for your entry by credit or debit card using our secure checkout system.
  • After your entry is submitted and paid for, you may log back in to review your entry, edit artist and image information, and add or substitute images up until the entry deadline (March 21, 2024.)
  • Entry fees are not refundable and must be submitted and paid by the entry deadline.
  • Entries cannot be accepted or changed after the deadline. Incomplete entries will be disqualified.
