A jury will select up to 100 images to be included in the ASMA Awards Online Exhibition, scheduled to be live beginning November 15, 2024. Cash awards will be given to the best works in the Exhibition.

This is an online only show! No framing, handling charges or shipping!

The juror's decision on entries is final. Only juried art will be exhibited. Juried in art not to exceed 100.

Awards

  • Best in Show — $3000
  • 2nd place — $1500
  • 3rd place — $500
  • 5 Merit awards — $200

Eligibility

  • This exhibition is for Regular Members, Signature Members and new members of ASMA.
  • Fellows of ASMA are not included.
  • Members of ASMA must be current on dues prior to show entry.
  • Non-Members can participate by first becoming an ASMA member. Follow the instructions on becoming a member at americansocietyofmarineartists.com

Entry Fees

  • Up to 5 works per artist
  • $35 for the first artwork
  • $10 for each additional work

Exhibition Requirements

  • Original artwork only, created within the last three years.
  • Previously shown work, sold work, and unsold work are all eligible.
  • Subject matter: artwork inspired by water: vessels, waterways, coastal scenes, and marine life in all its forms.
  • Accepted Media: all painting mediums, drawings, pastel, sculpture and scrimshaw.
  • Digital artwork will not be accepted.
  • Members of ASMA must be current on dues prior to show entry.

Sales

This is an exhibition only. It is not a for-sale show. Any sales that might ensue from exposure in this exhibition are between the artist and the customer. ASMA will not be involved.

Photo Release Statement

Artists agree to allow the American Society of Marine Artists to use your entry image(s) without compensation by ASMA and its representatives. Images or likenesses may be used in publications, websites or social media for any lawful purpose or advertising.

Additional Notification Information

Notifications will be emailed and posted in your ShowSubmit account by the end of the day on October 15, 2024.

You may view the notification in your ShowSubmit account by logging in and tapping the Notifications at the top right of the screen, or in your Entry History.

If you do not receive your email, login and view the notification in your account. We cannot respond to inquiries regarding the status of notifications.

Note: Entries made prior to 2023 may not display the View Notification link.

Image and Filename Specifications

  • File Format: Submit original, high-quality JPEG image files. Other formats (e.g., PNG, TIFF) are not accepted.
  • Crop Your Image: Ensure only the artwork itself is visible in the image. Do not show any visible matting, frames, or background distractions.
  • Orientation: Make sure your image is oriented correctly (right side up) so that the artwork appears in its intended viewing direction.
  • Image Size: You do not need to resize your image files before uploading. The system will automatically resize them. Smaller images cannot be enlarged to meet the requirements, so ensure your images are high resolution before uploading.
  • File Names: You do not need to rename your files before uploading them. The system will handle any file naming requirements.
  • File Size: There is a 30mb maximum file size limit. Larger image files will take longer to upload and process.

Additional Entry Information

  • You will pay for your entry by credit or debit card using our secure checkout system.
  • After your entry is submitted and paid for, you may log back in to review your entry, edit artist and image information, and add or substitute images up until the entry deadline (September 16, 2024.)
  • Entry fees are not refundable and must be submitted and paid by the entry deadline.
  • Entries cannot be accepted or changed after the deadline. Incomplete entries will be disqualified.
