Entry Fees

  • Juried Member
    $45 for first entry, $10 for second entry
  • Associate Member
    $50 for first entry, $10 for second entry
  • Non-Member
    $75 for first entry, $20 for second entry
This fee is payable with your credit card when you enter online. Maximum of two entries per artist. Only one may be accepted.

Entry fees are non-refundable.

Eligibility

  • Any woman artist may submit for jurying two original works, but only one work per artist will be accepted.
  • Giclees, photography, computer generated images, crafts, work done under instruction, derived from published photographs or previously shown in a CLWAC Annual Open Juried Exhibition is not eligible.
  • Work by members shown in the Members’ Exhibition is eligible.
  • Derivative work of artwork shown in a previous CLWAC Annual Open Juried Exhibition is not eligible.

2-Dimensional Artwork

  • Eligible media: Oil, Acrylic, Watercolor, Pastel, Drawing, Graphics, Collage, and Mixed Media.
  • Artwork, including frame, must not exceed 42” in width or height.
  • All 2-D work must be framed, wired and ready for hanging.
  • Gallery wrap is permitted (enter the same dimensions as your work size in the frame dimension fields).
  • Plastic glazing is required if metal frames are used and is recommended if work is shipped.
  • No artwork incorporating hazardous materials will be accepted.

3-Dimensional Artwork

  • Sculptors must submit 2 views (except for wall hangings.)
  • All sculpture must be light enough for one person to handle.
  • Wall-hung work must be equipped with a hanging device.
  • Ceiling-hung works or installation works are not eligible.
  • Do not submit very small sculptures. There are no small display cases for very small work.
  • Sculptors living within 50 miles of Salmagundi Art Club must provide their own pedestals or pay an additional $25 pedestal rental fee.

Receiving Day

Sunday, November 17, 2024 - 9:30am -12:00 noon. Accepted works will be received only on the date and during the hours specified. Artists should include a brief 1–2-page resume/bio which will be displayed in a binder for the duration of the exhibition. Artwork must arrive unpacked, whether delivered by artist or agent, to The Salmagundi Art Club, 47 Fifth Avenue, New York, NY 10003. Shipper should receive work in advance to allow its timely transport to the gallery. The name given to your shipper must be identical to your online application. Two available shippers are:

Barbara J. Sussman
Curator of Blue Hill Art & Cultural Center, Pearl River, NY and Fine Arts Appraiser

In addition, Barbara is a Life Member of the Arts Student League and a member of the Artists Fellowship Organization of New York City. She is a founding member of the Marjorie Strider Foundation, President of Civic and Cultural Center, a non-profit arts and cultural center undertaking the restoration of an 1872 opera house. Barbara is a fourth generation American artist whose paintings have been selected by Cartier for their holiday card collection for the past 8 years. Her work has been represented in multiple galleries in multiple states and is internationally collected. Her various related roles as a fine arts appraiser, art consultant, curator and artist have afforded Barbara a broad perspective and experience to develop her expertise.


Grace Mehan DeVito
Highly acclaimed representational realist portraiture, figurative, and still life artist

Grace's love of light and form imbue her paintings with beauty and timelessness, elevating even the humblest of subjects. Grace focuses her interest on the natural world with the intent to explore nature and present it to a viewer causing moments of reflection. Originally an illustrator, Grace left the field of commercial art to study fine art painting with many of today';s most celebrated artists. She was awarded the Portrait Society of America's First Place Still Life and First Place Commissioned Portraits Members Only Competition. She received the Award of Excellence for Realism at The Oil Painters of America's Eastern Regional Exhibition, the 2018 Joseph Hartley Award, the David Leffel Award for Excellence in Painting, Best in Show as well as 3rd place, and the 6th Annual Plein Air Competition Best Floral in Studio Oct/Nov 2016.

Jeffrey Spring
President and Project Manager of Modern Art Foundry

Established in 1932 by his grandfather John Spring, Jeffrey is a third generation owner. Joining Modern Art Foundry in 1993, he began running day-to-day operations in 2000, stepping in the shoes of his father, Bob Spring. Jeffrey has worked with hundreds of sculptors, helping them achieve artistic intentions in cast bronze, aluminum, and other materials.


Janice Mauro
Fellow Member of the National Sculpture Society, Silvermine Guild Member, The Sculptors Guild of NYC, NAWA

Janice has been an instructor in the arts for many years, creating various private commissions and attending residency programs. Her award-winning sculpture has been shown nationally and internationally and has been included in several permanent collections. She has created works featured in various notable Broadway Productions, such as The Lion King. She began her career as a studio assistant for Richard McDermott Miller, a renowned figurative sculptor based in New York City. She currently works from her wooded home studio in Connecticut, which serves as inspiration for her creations.

Acceptance Notification

Acceptance notification via email September 20, 2024. The email will include a label to be downloaded and attached to accepted work. Alternatively, use the label at the bottom of this prospectus.

Color Catalog

After notification of acceptance, you have the option of including your entry image in the online color catalog. The cost is $45 and your payment will be handled online at clwac.org/Sys/Store/Products/285920.

The deadline for catalog entries is October 11, 2024. Although the catalog will be available online, you will have the option of purchasing a printed glossy catalog and having it mailed to you for an additional $20.

Sales

Work must be for sale; NFS is not allowed.

Every effort will be made to encourage sales. A contribution of 25% will be accepted by the CLWAC. No artwork can be listed as POR or NFS. The artist is responsible for sales tax and delivery of artwork to the purchaser.

Removal of Artwork

No artwork may be removed for the duration of the exhibition. Artists attending the Awards Reception from 12:00 noon - 2:00pm on Saturday December 7, 2024, may remove their work at the end of the event by signing and returning the label from the back of their work. All other artwork must be removed on Saturday December 7, 2024, 2:30-4:00pm. Work not removed will be stored at artist's expense with D.A.D.

Benefit reception supporting The Metropolitan Museum of Art Travel and Research Fund

Thursday, November 21, 2024 from 5:30-8:00pm at the Salmagundi Club.
A minimum donation of $35 per person benefits the Travel and Research Fund of The Met. Additional donations are welcome and very much appreciated.

Image and Filename Specifications

  • Submit your original JPEG image files.
  • Crop out all parts of the photo that are not the actual work; do not show mat, frame, etc, only the work itself.
  • Image must be displayed right side up.
  • You do not need to resize your image files.
  • You do not need to rename your image files.

Additional Entry Information

  • You will pay for your entry by credit or debit card using our secure checkout system.
  • After your entry is submitted and paid for, you may log back in to review your entry, edit artist and image information, and add or substitute images up until the entry deadline (September 6, 2024.)
  • Entry fees are not refundable and must be submitted and paid by the entry deadline.
  • Entries cannot be accepted or changed after the deadline. Incomplete entries will be disqualified.
