The Key West Art & Historical Society announces a call for entries for its biannual juried exhibition which is slated to open in February 2025 at the Key West Museum of Art & History. “From A Woman’s Hand” is open to all female artists living and creating in the Florida Keys. Juried by Dr. Cori Convertito of the Key West Art & Historical Society, Martha Resk from the Florida Keys Council of the Arts, Emma Starr of The Armory Studios, and Elena Devers of The Studios of Key West, the submission platform opens on November 4, 2024, and closes on January 3, 2025.

Drawn entirely from the Florida Keys community, the exhibit illuminates the remarkable achievements of women artists who have been marginalized for centuries. Gender bias is less obvious today, but contemporary women artists still face many barriers and disparities, as well as continual underrepresentation in museum collections and exhibitions worldwide. The innovative exhibition concept challenges conventional boundaries, inviting artists to create artwork that expresses ideas about the natural world.

We are seeking submission of original artwork that captures the essence of “From A Woman’s Hand” that can include a range of mediums such as oil, acrylic, watercolor, pastel, encaustic, pencil, sculpture, and mixed media.
