"Stories in Frames": an invitation for women photographers to submit work that captures moments of strength, resilience, joy, and the facets of womanhood. This exhibit creates a space to share women's stories, offering viewers a look into their lives, struggles, and triumphs.

Eligibility

This NAWA juried exhibit is open to Signature NAWA MEMBERS only.

$5 for one additional entry

General Rules & Specifications

  • Open to NAWA Signature Members only.
  • There are no size restrictions for entries.
  • All artwork submitted must be original.
  • Digital enhancements other than traditional darkroom-type edits must be labeled “digitally enhanced.” Darkroom-type edits include adjustments such as contrast, shadows, color saturation, dodging, and burning.
  • Dramatic digital alterations or collaging that change the original photographic image will not be considered. If the work is PRIMARILY digitally generated (other than through a camera lens), it is not eligible for this exhibit.
  • Please note that any artwork that previously won a NAWA award is ineligible for submission to the current and future NAWA juried exhibitions.
  • Social media accounts (Website, Instagram, and Facebook) Advertising will be done by NAWA PR Committee.

  • Short artist bio (150 word limit): Tell us how you started, your key achievements, etc. Please do not include your name in the bio, as this is included in blind jurying.
  • Artist submitted work statement (150 word limit): Tell us what inspired you to create and/or your creative process for the art you submitted.

Technical Guidelines

  • Image must be a JPG image 1100px or larger. Files will be automatically resized to the correct specifications. You do not need to resize your image.
  • Files will be automatically renamed using your Name, Title of work, Medium, Size and Price. You do not need to name your image files.
  • Artwork must meet professional web standards. Blurry or poorly lit images will be disqualified.

Sales

  • NAWA receives 30% commission on all sales. Artist will receive 70%.
  • NO CHANGES may be made on price, title, or any information after submission.
  • All work must remain available for the duration of the entire exhibition.
Work must be for sale; NFS is not allowed.

Entry Agreement

The entry application & payment will serve as the entrants’ agreement to all conditions (including the waiver below) set forth in this prospectus. Entries will be disqualified for failure to follow these instructions.

Waiver

I, the undersigned artist, hereby declare my intention to exhibit my artwork as described in my entry form, on the National Association of Women Artists, Inc. website, www.thenawa.org, and to hold available for sale submitted artwork until the specified end date on the prospectus.

In consideration of the display of my artwork, I hereby declare I am the owner and creator of the original artwork being submitted by me, both as the artwork’s physical manifestation and the copyright of artwork.

I accept full responsibility for any and all damages, loss, theft, and/or any other casualty of any kind in shipping artwork to a buyer, if the work sells. I hereby waive any and all claims against the National Association of Women Artist, Inc., as well as their employees, officers, directors and committee personnel. Nevertheless, for the purpose of this agreement, I agree that the stated value of the artwork shall be One ($1.00) Dollar, in the event of any loss or damage to the piece of artwork.

I agree to allow an image of my artwork being exhibited to be used without charge for advertising and/or promotion in the furtherance of the Exhibition, and for any purposes including without limitation traditional media, social media, website as well as public relations, prior to and/or after the Exhibition.

My work is available for sale at the price hereinbefore agreed. I agree that if my work is sold during the exhibition, NAWA will retain a commission of 30% percent, and pay me 70% percent of the selling price.

Point of release clause: the work on exhibition is considered part of the exhibition from point of acceptance of the exhibit as stated in the prospectus. I understand that my work may not be included if it fails to meet professional presentation standards (as determined by the Exhibitions Committee), including but not limited to: blurry photography, inclusion of type over the image, extraneous background included, frame included. NAWA retains the right of discretion to decide if artworks do not meet the requirements of our show standards, or contain any inflammatory or offensive materials.

Labels: NAWA a not-for-profit art organization, will not list anything other than the name of the artists, the title of the work, dimensions, medium and price on the labels.

In the event of a dispute with regard to this Waiver Agreement, we agree that all disputes must be adjudicated in a State Court in the County, City and State of New York (i.e., Manhattan), under the Laws of the State of New York, without regard to choice of Law rules.

Note: The use of the National Association of Women Artists, Inc.’s logo, without prior written permission is prohibited. The use of the registered Trademark Seal and the logo of the National Association of Women Artists, Inc. for any personal or business use on any documents, postcards, invitations, and other promotional materials and communications is a violation of law. The letters NAWA may be used by signature members after their names, on all artworks, signifying their membership.

Additional Notification Information

Notifications will be emailed and posted in your ShowSubmit account by the end of the day on September 20, 2024.

You may view the notification in your ShowSubmit account by logging in and tapping the Notifications at the top right of the screen, or in your Entry History (Accepted works will be notated by a green check.)

If you do not receive your email, login and view the notification in your account. We cannot respond to inquiries regarding the status of notifications.

Note: Entries made prior to 2023 may not display the View Notification link.

Image and Filename Specifications

  • Submit your original JPEG image files.
  • Crop out all parts of the photo that are not the actual work; do not show mat, frame, etc, only the work itself.
  • Image must be displayed right side up.
  • You do not need to resize your image files.
  • You do not need to rename your image files.

Additional Entry Information

  • You will pay for your entry by credit or debit card using our secure checkout system.
  • After your entry is submitted and paid for, you may log back in to review your entry, edit artist and image information, and add or substitute images up until the entry deadline (August 30, 2024.)
  • Entry fees are not refundable and must be submitted and paid by the entry deadline.
  • Entries cannot be accepted or changed after the deadline. Incomplete entries will be disqualified.
