Submission of entries is open to all pastelists. Paintings must be entirely the work of the submitting artist. Paintings copied from others’ work, from published material, or from photographs taken by another are not eligible. Paintings done under supervision, such as a workshop or class, are not eligible.
Other guidelines include that each submitted painting:
is at least 80% soft pastels; no oil pastels
is for sale at a fair price, set by the artist.
was created within the last three years
has not previously been shown in any PPSCC FPO exhibition
has not won one of the top 4 awards in any other national or international juried pastel society show as of the entry deadline
has not been entered into an online show running concurrently with FPO
has not previously been shown at the Cultural Center
is not larger than 48” in any direction, framed size
is framed with a clean mat, if used
frame does not use saw-tooth hangers
PPSCC reserves the right to refuse any painting that does not meet these professional standards. Return of such paintings will occur at the artist’s expense.
Sales
Work must be for sale; NFS is not allowed. A 40% commission will be paid to the venue/PPSCC for sold paintings.
Entry Fees
Up to 5 paintings per artist.
PPSCC Members: $35 for the first 3 paintings, $10 for each additional painting.
Non-members: $45 for the first 3 paintings, $10 for each additional painting.
Payment is made online at time of submission. A maximum of one painting per artist may be accepted into the exhibit.
Current PPSCC Membership dues must be paid in full to receive the member’s rate and entry fees are non-refundable. Please visit our website if you want to sign up or renew your membership.
Notification of acceptance
An email will be sent to the address provided in your submission on or before the notification date mentioned above. Artists whose work is juried into the show will receive additional information. Entrants failing to deliver accepted work will be denied eligibility in the next two “For Pastels Only” exhibitions.
Awards
We anticipate at least $7,000 in cash awards and merchandise.
Delivery of accepted work
Hand-delivered artwork will be received on Sunday, June 23, 2024 between 12 noon and 2 pm at:
Shipped artwork must arrive at the Cultural Center of Cape Cod by June 21, 2024. Information on shipping will be emailed with notification of acceptance.
New this Year There will be no handling fee when using an Airfloat Strongbox or Deluxe Art Shipper box. However, there will still be a charge ($35) for using any other shipping container. We are often able to provide a discount code for Airfloat boxes. Details to be included and confirmed in acceptance letters.
Return of artwork
Hand delivered artwork must be picked up on Sunday, July 21 between 1pm and 3 pm at the Cultural Center of Cape Cod. PPSCC is not responsible for unclaimed paintings. No work is to be picked up early. Shipped artwork will be picked up by the carriers on Monday, July 22, 2024.
Liability
Every reasonable precaution will be utilized in the handling, storage, and transportation of all works submitted for the exhibit. Neither PPSCC nor the Cultural Center of Cape Cod as organizations or individuals will be held liable for the loss or damage to paintings, however caused. You may carry independent insurance at your own expense. Your application to this exhibition constitutes agreement with these terms.
Notifications will be emailed by the end of the day on May 16, 2024. We cannot respond to inquiries regarding the status of notifications before that time.
After notifications are sent, you may view the status of your entry in your ShowSubmit artist account’s Entry History. Accepted works will be notated by a green check.
If you do not receive your email, you may also view your notification letter using the View Notification link in your Entry History.
Note: Entries made prior to 2023 may not display the View Notification link.

Crop out all parts of the photo that are not the actual work; do not show mat, frame, etc, only the work itself.

Images should be at least 1500 pixels on the longest edge and no larger than 30mb.
The maximum upload file size limit is 30mb. Large image files may take longer to process and upload.
Images that are smaller than 1500 pixels on the longest edge cannot be made larger to meet the requirements. ShowSubmit cannot 'upsize' your images. They will be saved as is.
Image files are automatically resized to 300 dpi and 1500 pixels on the longest edge.
You do not need to resize your image files if they meet the above specifications.
If you have already resized your images, or if you prefer to resize your images yourself, ShowSubmit will not resize the image if it meets the exact show specifications.
You do not need to rename your image files.
Image files are automatically renamed using your last name, first initial and the title of the work. e.g. Hamby_D_BeautifulDay.jpg
All images must be high quality jpeg (jpg) image files. Set your camera to the highest possible quality image, use good lighting on your painting without any glass in front of it, and use a tripod for your camera. Once the photo is taken, you must crop out all parts of the photo that are not the actual painting; do not show mat, frame, etc, only the painting itself.
Additional Entry Information
You will pay for your entry by credit or debit card using our secure checkout system.
After your entry is submitted and paid for, you may log back in to review your entry, edit artist and image information, and add or substitute images up until the entry deadline (April 29, 2024.)
Entry fees are not refundable and must be submitted and paid by the entry deadline.
Entries cannot be accepted or changed after the deadline. Incomplete entries will be disqualified.
