Description

What warms your body and soul in winter? Is it tangible, warm and fuzzy like a bear hug? Maybe it’s more ethereal like the warmth of the sun, the crackle of fire, or steam rising. Warmth in Winter can take many forms. Use your imagination to spark a warm feeling in the hearts of your viewers, have fun, and show your art to the world.

Judge of Awards

Lyn Diefenbach, an artist based in Australia, will be the judge for Warmth In Winter online show. Visit her website at www.LDief.com. Lyn was accepted into the International Guild of Realism in 2008, and holds Master Pastellist status with the Pastel Society of Australia. She was awarded Eminent Pastellist status in the International Association of Pastel Societies in 2019, having achieved master Circle status with that group in 2014. Lyn was accepted into the Pastel Society of America as a Signature Member in 2016. She has been featured numerous times in the International Artist, Pastel Journal and Australian Artist magazines.

Eligibility

  • This online Exhibition is open to any artist anywhere in the world.
  • Submit only the work itself: do not show mat, frame, background, glass reflections, etc.
  • This competition is for pastel paintings. 80% of the exposed surface must be dry pastel. No oil pastels or mixed media.
  • There is no artwork size limitation.
  • Original artwork only, not copies from other artist’s work or published work. If the outcome of the piece has been significantly and unduly influenced by another artist’s work, the jurors may consider the piece to be Artwork created on top of a photo is not eligible. Altered photos with pastels added are not eligible.  
  •  If a photo reference is used, the photo needs to be taken by the artist, or if using a photo taken by someone else, you must provide if requested from PSAK written permission from the photographer to use the reference.
  • Work done in a workshop or under guidance from an instructor is not eligible.
  • All subjects and styles, except nudes, are eligible. PSAK reserves the right to refuse any entry for any objectionable depictions or for not following these rules.
  • Work may be for sale or may be listed as NFS (Not For Sale).
  • PSAK reserves the right to refuse any painting that does not meet these standards.

Fees

PSAK members
$30 for up to 3 entries; $10/entry for each additional entry up to 6 maximum.

Non-members
$40 for up to 3 entries; $10/entry for each additional entry up to 6 maximum.

Entry fees are non-refundable.

Notification

Up to six entries may be submitted; no more than two per artist will be accepted for the exhibition.

Sales

No commission will be expected, but if your work sells during the show, a 20% donation to PSAK will be greatly appreciated. If there is interest in purchasing an artwork, PSAK will put the buyer in direct contact with the artist. The artist and buyer will then work out the details of the purchase and delivery.

Notifications will be emailed by the end of the day on January 23, 2023. We cannot respond to inquiries regarding the status of notifications before that time.

After notifications are sent, you may view the status of your entry in your ShowSubmit artist account’s Entry History. Accepted works will be notated by a green check.

If you do not receive your email, you may also view your notification letter using the View Notification link in your Entry History.

Note: Entries made prior to 2023 may not display the View Notification link.

Image and Filename Specifications

  • Submit your original JPEG image files.
  • Crop out all parts of the photo that are not the actual work; do not show mat, frame, etc, only the work itself.
  • Image must be displayed right side up.
  • You do not need to resize your image files.
  • You do not need to rename your image files.

Additional Entry Information

  • You will pay for your entry by credit or debit card using our secure checkout system.
  • After your entry is submitted and paid for, you may log back in to review your entry, edit artist and image information, and add or substitute images up until the entry deadline (January 16, 2023.)
  • Entry fees are not refundable and must be submitted and paid by the entry deadline.
  • Entries cannot be accepted or changed after the deadline. Incomplete entries will be disqualified.
