Eligibility

  • Open to all artists in the United States ONLY. No International entries. 
  • Artists may enter up to 3 digital images.  
  • Work must be ORIGINAL SOFT pastels only (No less than 80%). No oil pastels. No classroom or workshop work allowed. If painted from a photograph, it must be the artist’s own photo.
  • No works from any previous Pastel Society of New Hampshire (PSNH) exhibitions, including our PSNH member show. 
  • Paintings must have been completed after January 1, 2020.  
  • A painting that has received top awards (Best in Show, 1st, 2nd and 3rd Prize) at any International or National Juried Show as of August 29th is not allowed.
  • All paintings are for sale. No NFS.

Exhibition Requirements

Size Limit: Maximum 45” in any direction (including framed). Accepted work must be clean, securely frames and ready to hang. No sawtooth hangers allowed. If mats are used, white, off-white, or neutral mats are recommended. Gallery framing standards are expected.  

Painting must be identical to the accepted digital entry.
Paintings not meeting the requirements will be rejected. Images of accepted work will be retained for PSNH archives. 

The artist grants permission to reproduce work for publicity purposes, both in print and digital galleries. Copyright will be attributed to the artist. Entry into this exhibition constitutes agreement with all conditions set forth in this prospectus and Entry Form and is your commitment to participate. 

Your entry form is a legal and binding contract to deliver artwork that has been juried into the show. If, after being juried in, an entrant chooses not to deliver artwork, he or she may not enter a PSNH show for a period of two years.

Sales

Work must be for sale; NFS is not allowed.

A 40% commission will be taken for all sold work.

Exhibit Location

The Discover Portsmouth Center in the heart of the historic seacoast of Portsmouth, New Hampshire. The gallery is elegantly situated on the ground floor of an historic building which once was the main  library. It is known for the high caliber of the exhibitions displayed throughout the year. Restaurants and shops are within walking distance for the many visitors who come to the center for information, and for residents who are aware of the high-quality art shown there. The gallery is open seven days a week from 10 until 5 and is knowledgeably staffed.

Image and Filename Specifications

  • File Format: Submit original, high-quality JPEG image files. Other formats (e.g., PNG, TIFF) are not accepted.
  • Crop Your Image: Ensure only the artwork itself is visible in the image. Do not show any visible matting, frames, or background distractions.
  • Orientation: Make sure your image is oriented correctly (right side up) so that the artwork appears in its intended viewing direction.
  • Image Size: You do not need to resize your image files before uploading. The system will automatically resize them. Smaller images cannot be enlarged to meet the requirements, so ensure your images are high resolution before uploading.
  • File Names: You do not need to rename your files before uploading them. The system will handle any file naming requirements.
  • File Size: There is a 30mb maximum file size limit. Larger image files will take longer to upload and process.

Additional Entry Information

  • You will pay for your entry by credit or debit card using our secure checkout system.
  • After your entry is submitted and paid for, you may log back in to review your entry, edit artist and image information, and add or substitute images up until the entry deadline (August 29, 2022.)
  • Entry fees are not refundable and must be submitted and paid by the entry deadline.
  • Entries cannot be accepted or changed after the deadline. Incomplete entries will be disqualified.
