The Rochester Art Club 2023 Signature Members Spring Art Exhibition will open at Mill Art Center & Gallery, 61 N Main St, Honeoye Falls, NY 14472 on Tuesday, April 4, 2023. The show will continue through Saturday, May 20, 2023. Show Reception: Saturday, April 8, 2023 2p–4p.

Juror for Selection and Awards

Liz Haywood-Sullivan, PSA-MP, IAPS/EP, has been dedicated to working exclusively in the pastel medium since 1996. Her attraction to the medium is pastel's unique ability to capture light and atmosphere in the landscape. She is a sought after instructor and judge for pastel societies  and arts organizations around the world. Liz authored the popular book Painting Brilliant Skies and Water in Pastel (Northlight, 2013). Her award-winning pastel paintings have been featured in numerous books and magazine articles, and have appeared in national, international and  museum exhibitions worldwide. Liz is a President Emerita of the International Association of Pastel Societies (2013–2017) and is the current president of the North River Arts Society in Massachusetts. Her work is represented by Vose Galleries of Boston. Liz grew up in Pittsford and graduated from RIT. She currently lives in Marshfield MA with her husband and two dogs. lizhaywoodsullivan.com

Entry Fee

  • Up to 4 pieces may be submitted. 
  • A non-refundable entry fee of $30 per artist is required, which covers 1 to 4 entries. 

Rules of Entry

  • This show is open to RAC Signature members only.
  • All entrants must be a member in good standing as of January 1, 2023.
  • Entries must have been created within the last two years and may not have been shown at any previous RAC or other juried show within Monroe County.
  • All aspects of the entry must be the artist’s original work including subject, photography, composition, drawing and painting.
  • Entries may not be produced in any instructional class or workshop, or under the paid mentorship of another artist.
  • No diptych or triptych paintings, mechanical reproductions, photography, crafts or computer-generated art.
  • 3-D art is acceptable for this show. 
  • Nudes are acceptable for this show.
  • The four pieces submitted should have the maximum combined diagonal measurement of 80”, including matte and frame. Please see the diagram on page 3 of the prospectus if you are unsure how to do this.
  • Sawtooth hangers are NOT allowed. All paintings must be dry, securely framed or gallery wrapped, and supported by picture wire only. Please make sure that your wire ends are covered with tape to prevent injuries to the hanging committee. We reserve the right to refuse framing that does not meet these guidelines. See page 4 of the prospectus for labels to put on the back of your work.

Only one award per member is allowed. 

Sales

Work may be for sale; NFS is allowed.
All sales of paintings are to be handled through The Mill Art Center & Gallery, which can accept cash, check, and charge. All money collected will be paid out at the end of the show less 50% gallery commission for non-Mill Art Center members/40% gallery commission for Mill members. All artwork must remain on exhibit until the end of the show.

Image and Filename Specifications

  • File Format: Submit original, high-quality JPEG image files. Other formats (e.g., PNG, TIFF) are not accepted.
  • Crop Your Image: Ensure only the artwork itself is visible in the image. Do not show any visible matting, frames, or background distractions.
  • Orientation: Make sure your image is oriented correctly (right side up) so that the artwork appears in its intended viewing direction.
  • Image Size: You do not need to resize your image files before uploading. The system will automatically resize them. Smaller images cannot be enlarged to meet the requirements, so ensure your images are high resolution before uploading.
  • File Names: You do not need to rename your files before uploading them. The system will handle any file naming requirements.
  • File Size: There is a 30mb maximum file size limit. Larger image files will take longer to upload and process.

Additional Entry Information

  • You will pay for your entry by credit or debit card using our secure checkout system.
  • After your entry is submitted and paid for, you may log back in to review your entry, edit artist and image information, and add or substitute images up until the entry deadline (March 13, 2023.)
  • Entry fees are not refundable and must be submitted and paid by the entry deadline.
  • Entries cannot be accepted or changed after the deadline. Incomplete entries will be disqualified.
