Judge of Show

Susan Kuznitsky
Susan Kuznitsky honed her skills at the American Academy of Art in Chicago. Her postgraduate journey led her into freelance portrait artistry, working for a Chicago-based department store chain. Over four years, she gained valuable 'on-the-job' training, creating live 25 minute portraits.

During this time, Susan fell in love with the Impressionists at the Art Institute in down town Chicago. Inspired by pastels, she moved to Woodstock, NY, to learn from Master Artist Albert Handell, who need ed a studio assistant. This encounter pro foundly influenced Susan, teaching her the nuances of pastels and oils and the art of teaching. Under Handell's guidance, she developed a unique teaching style that re mains influential.

After two years in New York, Susan returned to Chicago, opened her own studio, and began holding workshops and classes. This marked the start of her trav
eling and teaching engagements across the U.S. Back in Chicago, she also painted at the Palette and Chisel Academy of Fine Art with Richard Schmid, another master painter.

Today, Susan professionally pursues her passion for art by teaching classes and workshops locally, internationally, and online. Her extraordinary journey, pas
sion, and resilience make her art unique and deeply empathetic. A testament to her skills and personal narrative, she remains active and committed to her craft, which has supported her through life's challenges and triumphs.
