Extending the deadline
We no longer grant deadline extensions for calls for entry.
This decision is based on the following:
This decision is based on the following:
- In most, if not all, cases where an extension was requested but not implemented, the final number of entries still met or exceeded expectations.
- Extending deadlines can create the perception that deadlines are flexible, which erodes trust and urgency. This can cause some artists to delay submitting or miss deadlines entirely.
- Extending a deadline is unfair to artists who have already taken the time and effort to submit on time. Some also depend on yours and others deadlines for determining which works are eligible to enter.
- A well-executed marketing plan is far more effective than a deadline extension at increasing submissions. Promoting your call consistently, especially in the final days, will maximize participation.
